I've gotta say I started this playing this after barely touching my Xbox for the best part of a year and it's fucking brilliant. It's almost too much of a cliché to say the shit looking indie game is great but here we are.

I took a punt on it in Steam for a couple of quid at the beginning of the year when someone on here mentioned it. Had an absolute blast playing through it, and looked forward to the regular (as the time) drip feed of new features.
Then it dropped on gamepass and I had a blast playing through it again with a clean save... Then yet again when it popped up on Android. (that one was especially fun before they patched the multitouch bug)
Best couple of quid I've ever spent on a game. I bought the base game on Xbox earlier today, as it felt almost criminal to have only paid for it once.
It's an easy GOTY contender for me, despite how shit it looks.

It's interesting that you now kinda have to learn the map. I'm trying to combine a run with getting the 'upgrade the lightning ring' achievement and I haven't managed to find a path to the duplicator at the top of the map yet (three runs or so). I think I like that it's changed up a bit.

It really is a deceptive game. There's a lot more going on than you first think . I've now unlocked a map on my pause screen which is very handy for locating items. Instead of just aimlessly wandering, I'm now making a beeline for shit.

Yeah there's a fuckton of stuff to be unlocked that expands the game far beyond what's there in the beginning. I believe the DLC map is intended for the late game (as in, you've unlocked most or all). It's significantly harder than most of the base content imo.
And I quite like that it has distinct areas with different geometry and enemies, instead of an endless repetition of the same small area like in a Flintstones cartoon.

I liked the developer interview linked in the other thread. In short, he previously worked as a software developer in the gambling industry, his job basically being to design single button "games" in a way that hooks people and makes them insert coin after coin. |

I originally played this on steam deck and got quite far but when it came out on android I knew I was in trouble.
This thing is basically digital crack. Perfect game to have in your hand while you're pretending to watch what you're other half has put on the telly.

OK, I might need a wee nudge here. I’ve been playing this for a few days and it’s fun, but I’m not sure if I’m making the right kind of progress.
I understand that there is loads more to the game than is immediately apparent. Fair enough. But what should I focus on? Powerups? Weapon evolution? Finding stuff? I have found a relic in world 2 - should I keep trying until I find one in world 1? Basically I am confused.

I also found myself not really getting it until I had a 30mins run in the library and then, oh boy, I got it. Or rather, it got me. The game connects to something primal in my brain that can't really be explained without just experiencing those moments at 29mins in.
