Couldn't resist the sale price of:
3) Dishonoured: Death of the Outsider
and I also went for the very recent release of:
4) Turbo Force (Arcade Archives)
That last one is the precursor to the Sonic Wings shmup series (which themselves branch into the Psikyo games), so I wanted to get that one done before I launch into the shmups of '92, i.e. b4 Sonic Wings 1.
The Arcade Archives game series will definitely be my downfall here as they almost always release a new one each week. Many are too archaic or not a genre I am interested in, but there is enough to likely tip me over 10 games before the year is out I reckon.

🦆 The Ascent
Fired up The Ascent on gamepass and even though it's not new to me I'll add it since I've put about 10 hours into it now.
I can't work out if they intended for people to play this through to the end because it just gets hard with shocking levels of backtracking. The itemisation balance is also way off, I'm swimming in cash because you constantly get duplicate drops which can't be used for anything beyond selling and the weapon upgrade components are rarer than rocking horse shit. Can you buy them? Can you fuck!
I downloaded a trainer and gave me a shit load so I could unlock the weapons.

Ori and the Blind Forest completed. Beautifully made, but some of the latter escape sequences were maddening and felt a little unfair, and occasionally the game allowed aesthetics to get in the way of readability. Very much the same feeling after completing Metroid Dread, that some sections were more satisfying because you have to get good.

Oh dear. That's me already failed then.
Latest Arcade Archives game in Taito's horizontal shmup Megablast. A game massively overshadowed by almost all of their other shooters, but damn if it isn't tons of fun. Your ship has so much consistent destructive power to its shot that despite its second rate presentation (even for 1989) it still is a joyous (Mega)blast.
I've lost Pigwhip yet again, but fuck it, I am having fun. Maybe I should be in thr 52 games thread instead?!
