It just stinks, he’s put at least 3 minutes on some of the best time trial riders in the world on a 22k course, he’s somehow gone 10% faster than the specialists? It’s equivalent to Mo Farah lining up for an 800m and smashing the world record on his first go Or Mo Farah changing from what he was, to what he became.

Haha, I just saw his statement that his radio wasn't working and he thought his bike computer was broken because the numbers were too high. And that he was taking it easy in sections, you know, on the flat bits where he still put 30 seconds into Pogacar (Pogacar!). Wonderful stuff.

Feel a bit bad for Jonas. It was one hell of an effort he put in yesterday, regardless if his urine has the temperature of sun's surface. But it would be really annoying to have done something clean and get accused of being doped to the gills. The issue is how far ahead of everyone else he is. Hard not to raise an eyebrow. I still loved yesterday though. Sadly it’s the legacy that the sport (and Athletics) has been left behind because of its past. People will always question these types of wins. It’s not just the wins though, it’s the overall pace of the peloton, time up climbs etc. it’s very quick. I know we had the Pyrenees in the first week but the gaps Pog and Vin pulled out was huge too. I kind of expect the likes of Yates etc not too far off. Probably doesn’t help the GC field doesn’t seem that big compared to usual.

Oh I'm new to following cycling this closely but aware of the history with doping within the sport (I still enjoy watching videos of Pantani though)
I also following athletics but other than F1 the main sport I follow avidly is boxing. I'm all too familiar with some of my favourite fighters popping dirty.

I don't understand the spectators. I get it you want to be there but surely if you made the effort to go there you wouldn't want to get in the way of the action.
Incredible scenes but a bunch of tits

Odds on a DNS tomorrow? He looks like shit, and had all that K-tape on his stomach.

Look forward to seeing the highlights tonight.

Yes, had a slow-mo topple over which looked like it hurt his knee.

I can’t believe I was actually cheering for UAE to do something today, I’ve been thoroughly sportswashed. It’s just a bit of light oil and slavery guys.

Did Campanaerts really come last? I saw him at one point just going uphill in a huge gear at 30rpm

Anyway, I'm out.
I've gotten into arguments before about performance-enhancing aspects at the old place (user pistol was one maybe, I think) and to be honest, I just felt like I was ruining it for others who wanted to enjoy the admittedly epic battles of Armstong, Pantani, Ullrich, and Virenque. I've loved this sport since I was a kid. But not continuously, and not now, again.

Pog’s gap to Wout would’ve comfortably topped the list at. 3.4 seconds faster per km, take Pog’s ride out of the equation and Jonas rode a scarecely believable 7.6 seconds per km faster than Wout in 3rd.

It’s a little icey stab in my veins, and it does ruin the (slight) suspension of disbelief I slip into- it’s clearly happening in sneaky ways still. Selfishly, I’d just like other sports to receive the same attention on the issue too, football, for example, seems entirely immune to the undoubted sleaze going on there.

'Mon Thibault!
Not looking so likely now sadly. Would be a great way to for him to sign off.
Not quite hoping pidcock falls off yet, but it's coming.

Jonas is riding the Vuelta! If JV or Roglic take the win there, JV wins the Giro, Tour and Vuelta in a single season.
Quite the starting list. Jonas Vingegaard Primoz Roglic (3x Vuelta winner, Geraint Thomas (2nd Giro '23, 3rd Tour '22) Enric Mas (2nd Vuelta '22) Juan Ayuso (3rd Vuelta '22) Remco Evenepoel (1st Vuelta '22)

Hopefully they all stay fit… Pretty sure TdF 2021 had a stacked startlist and then everyone got skittled in the first week.

Never imagined I'd think it, but I want Remco to win to break up the JV domination.
