Do you really want a German to manage England though? We had a Swede who managed our national side which was pretty controversial considering our fierce rivalry. But then all was forgotten during World Cup 98 when we thrashed Nigeria 4-1 who looked very handy, then gave Brazil a real scare in possibly one of my favourite games of all time.

Despite not being a raging racist (I promise) and whilst I did (do) absolutely adore the wonder that is Sven, I do think there is justification in the national teams appointing a domestic manager. I actually think that should be baked in to the rules.
The national team should be representative of the best your country has to offer.

There's a lot of English managers yes, but not many particularly good ones, and even fewer who'd take the England job.

I’ve got a mate who works at St George’s Park. I’ll have to ask if he sees anyone knocking about. I asked him a while back if he was allowed to get autographs and obviously not  it’s very frowned upon. |
