Where are you, Salaman?
La Vuelta starts in a very short while.
Roglic has got a sexy TT machine. Carapaz has got a gaudy Pinarello.

My least fave of the three, but, aside from Olympic track I’ve taken a break from pro cycling post TdF and am actually quite PUMPED for this.

I start my track accreditation next month, looks like I found a way to justify another bike build

La Vuelta goes past pretty close to my place this year, it came through our town in 2019 I think. In the before times.

I start my track accreditation next month, looks like I found a way to justify another bike build What does this involve? A couple of hours going around and learning the ropes? Concrete or wooden velodrome?

The nearest velodrome to me is the olympics one, Lee Valley Velodrome. To get accredited you have to do 4 staged sessions, the second and fourth are assessed. Things like riding slowly around the fence, riding behind others etc. I think learning to go round slowly is the crucial part

Fancy: mine’s a concrete bowl 😋 You’ll be trackstanding at the highest point before you know it.

Herne Hill is nearby too, that’s an outdoor concrete one but it’s the other side of London so a nightmare to drive to. I’m looking forward to it, a guy i ride with is big into the scene, been racing track for years so I can lean on him for advice

I had great fun on my few session on the Manchester track, accredditaion mostly seems about turning up and not being a dick (cutting people up / moving off your line without checking etc). Feels ace to dive bomb off the banking for extra speed on the straight, not quite the same on my more local tarmac track with a barely noticable bank. Anyway, is the cycling thread of the cycling 2021 thread, or both?

There’s a seperate cycling thread, probably best to keep this chat in there

Yeah, that’s awesome, having a hole through the centre of your head must make you more aero or summat.

Watching today's highlights.
Ouch. That Valverde crash looked very close to being *seriously* nasty if he'd gone over the edge. No news yet if he's able to continue or dropping out which is annoying. Hopefully, they'll blather on a little about it at the end.

Oh, he retired during the stage. Are you watching the highlights on Quest?
Today was a snooze-fest, but happy for Jakobsen.

Shreiver has backed up her Olympic BMX gold with the world champ title, I think the first woman to to the double too

Champoussin looked like he was touching cloth with some of the gurning when he went on the attack by the end.
Definitely a 'font geek so good' face before the chair was defiled! 😀

Champoussin is French for “desecrated armchair”. Now we know why AG2R bibs are brown at least

I'm not even sure it's getting covered here. We've been moving house, so I have hardly been online or watched any TV since mid-August.
I just saw the summary of Wout vs Alaphillipe in the Tour of Britain. What a nasty climb.
After seeing that, I'm looking forward to the World Championship and Roubaix even more.

Colbrelli is the new European Champion. Based on the Tour of Britain performance, I'd say Wout has a fair chance for the rainbow jerysey.
Some great behind the scenes stuff coming out of the Tour of Britain.
Eenkhoorn being a gent:
With a nice follow up the next day:
And Cav paying a visit to Wout Van Aert with his kids:

I think I might be slightly gay for Wout.

I was at the stage today. Saw Mrs Cav & kids, Alaphilippe & Wout. Plus the wee lad who got the bidon yesterday.
Man, the final sprint was fast!

I was watching the ladies WCs yesterday. Snoozefest until the last 40k.
Tuned into the men's WC with 170k to go and it was already an exciting race.
Good times!
