I find it hard to judge these threads, because we're usually talking about a narrative and I don't know if you can include gameplay Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons. *Specifically* the gameplay. If you know, you know.

^ If you don't you should play it. It's dirt cheap now and not that long. Don't spoiler yourself.

The end of Bastion sticks in my memory, which must be a sign of quality because I am now old and forgetful.

Spec-Ops - The Line
Very clever ending. Using what is normal unquestionable behaviour in a 3rd person military shooter (namely killing hundreds of enemies and innocents) and turning it's on its head to a degree that it's stayed with me ever since.
Bruce Boxleitner voicing the main protagonist, was the icing on the cake for what should have been an easily forgettable shooter.

The whole game is great, but I love the ending of Disco Elysium.
That and the original Fallout ending.

Braid's final level is incredible and made my jaw drop at the time.

Is that the only version without Buzz dreadful line reading? It is.

Oh! INSIDE. The whole last couple of levels and end was one of those "woah" moments for me.

I wish they'd found a way to make it seem like you had a bit more agency though. The ending lost some of its power when you literally had no choice in any of your actions throughout the game.
That would have been pretty hard to pull off though, so it was a good attempt.

Another for Life is Strange. I heard Mudflow - The Sense of Me, on a random playlist yesterday, I was right back in Arcadia Bay. An and the ending with the Spanish Sahara, wow.

Skipping all the Life is Strange stuff as I'm half way through that at the moment and don't want to spoil anything. Glad to hear the ending isn't bad though.

I like Chun Li’s ending in SSF2T as it contains the line “No one can escape from my mighty legs!”

No one said Monkey Island 2 yet? Coz that ending blew my mind when I was about ten.

I realise I've not beaten many recent games...
- Half-life 2/Episodes & Portal - Braid sticks in the memory - The Longest Journey I remember enjoying back in the day - Last of Us 1 (and 2) & Uncharted 4 - Inside was good (and short so I actually finished it)
I'm going to go back and finish the last hour of Brothers based on comments above.

I really enjoyed many endings already mentioned: Red Dead, Last of Us, Uncharted 4, LiS.
I think my favourite has long been the bittersweet ending of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. There's something about its neatly circular story and classic unfulfilled romance that really hits me. Still waiting on that remake...
I also think What Remains of Edith Finch crafts a good story which wraps up nicely.

Totally beautiful.

Brothers isn’t a long game at all. Unless you started it up last week, it’s probably worth replaying from the beginning. But yeah, its final moments are up there with RDR’s final moments.

The Last of Us - the final act really got me, from when Joel and Ellie arrived, to the credits. I don't have kids but the desperate effort to find and protect Ellie really resonated. Until you see it from the other point of view. It would be interesting to see how people would play it differently, if they played it the other way around.

Or at the very least, jump back to an earlier save half way through. Jumping straight into the ending would be mistake imho.
HowLongToBeat says the main story is 3 hours, though they tend to rush things a bit.

3hrs sounds about right from what I remember. Still a solid 3hrs and I think it's on Game Pass?

Don’t know if it’s in the arcade version, but I liked the post credit scene in Golden Axe.
In terms of the Lucasarts games, I liked how the final act of Fate of Atlantis ramps up. It’s almost a horror by the end - just like the good Indy films.
And everyone should sit through the ending for Metal Gear Solid 4 at some point in their lives. If only to see what a baffling ordeal it all was.
