I hit 'New releases' on Youtube Music on the regular as there's always a ton of interesting stuff there. Most of the artists I know or like that are included just released some live album but every once in a while, I'm stumped. Like this morning, when I saw Comforably Numb Single Body Count & David Gilmour
I didn't know Body Count was still a thing but a Pink Floyd song!? With Girlmour!? I spotted it about an hour ago and I still haven't clicked on it. I'm not sure what to expect. music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nh7-KfBvk_YCC2rrfTnH8UW9B23gMo1wE&si=qopiQb7TK4l3Uj9FEdit: It's not bad actually. Gilmour guitar, Ice-T with his own lyrics for the verses and Gilmour does the (original) chorus. I enjoyed that more than expected. Better then anything on Waters recentish version of Dark Side... (Not a high bar, admittedly)

Chat Pile's new album, Cool World is pretty good.
Their sound continues to sound like a mix of Jesus Lizard, Big Black, with a hint of Godflesh and Korn, but it's a bit more groove focused than their first album. There are fewer wtf moments, and there's more atmospheric melody, in a post-hardcore way, but the thick, sludgy bass remains and it's somehow more oppressive and disturbing, and vocalist Raygun Busch just sounds like he's in a midst of a mental breakdown.
It's great.

New Jezza Cantrell is pretty decent on first listen.

The new High Contrast album is really good. Classic Hospital type D&B

Their last record too sadly. Didn't get along their most recent one but Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock were excellent.
Saw them live a fair few times too and had a long chat over a cig with the lead singer. Top bloke.

Yeah I wasn't feeling the last album. I'll give it a go though.

This new Blind Yeo album makes me feel like I’m living in a commune in the early 70s. They’re a Cornish psych-prog collective and this is two previously self-released eps given a full release as an album. lostmap.bandcamp.com/album/echoes-anam-cara

With Black Midi now "indefinitely over" we at least get to listen to Geordie Greep's solo album The New Sound, which is bonkers (and fucking brilliant).
For someone to come out of Black Midi and then continue to push boundaries and create an album with a couple of handfuls of different genres across the runtime is impressive. Could have been a massive clusterfuck, it is not.

WTF?!?! I mean, I actually really rate a lot of his stuff, and I fucking love The Warriors...so my intrigue is SKY HIGH!! Album is out now - here's the Spotify link - Further edit now I've listened to it - I LOVE IT. Not all the songs work, but on the whole it's a fantastic re-imagining. The story isn't changed, but the music is fantastic, good mix of genres, great lyrics and vocal performances, and some of the best bits of movie dialogue (verbatim for some sequences like the Ajax park scene in the song "The Park at Night" are featured. That it starts with a song that heavily uses "Warriors come out and play" and I was sold from the very beginning.

Quite looking forward to Devin Townsend’s new album which I think is out at the weekend. Three singles have been released already, one which was a bit meh and two which I think are excellent - but cheese - even for him. However even with the trite lyrics the new song stayed in my head after one listen.
I think he entered a bit of a dull period after Empath, which might be a bit of a desert island disc for me.

Public Service Broadcasting - The Last Flight
It’s a month old already, but it’s only grown on me in that time. An excellent album. Possibly their best. The final track is such an incredible musical tribute. It’s beautifully haunting in a very Radiohead way.

Better Lovers (former Every Time I Die/Dillinger Escape Plan members) new album, Highly Irresponsible was released today and is very good. Hardcore punk, full of energy and nice production.

The radio excerpts or recreations from the ship to her and her to the plane as they can't locate each other are very sad i thought.

I am all ready for the new Kim Deal lp. What I have heard sounds great imo. It's been a long wait for Friday this week.

Vortex Same. Yesterday, I listened to the four tracks she has released thus far, and wasn't at all sold to begin with; however, with repeated listens they really grew on me, and now I'm keen to hear the rest.

Another who can't wait for the new Kim Deal release tomorrow.
Been in love with her since I first heard Doolittle and then Pod.
And whilst Doolittle is a perfect album, I rate most of the Breeders albums above Pixies. Certainly now, the Breeders output is levels above what Frank and co are putting out.
Solo Kim really shines too. I bought all the self released 7" series she released in the early 10s (a couple of tracks are reworked for this album, and one ended up on the last Breeders album) and those 10 tracks are epic.

If The Cure's new album doesn't top several end of year lists I'd be amazed. I can't stop playing it. I'd put it waaay above Blackstar, for comparison.

I'm on my second play through and it's glorious, love every track. And the production is stunning, so much going on texturally and yet it all fits together. Hard and heavy one minute, tender and luscious the next.
Managed to get tickets for her show at the Barbican next year and can't wait

I had a listen when at the gym. It was decent enough but a bit mellow for what i was doing and I wasn't really able to commit fully to it either between my grunting & peching and the awful gym tunes belting out over their speakers. Noise cancelling headphones can only go so far!
😂
I will have another go at a better time!
