Suprised to see no thread for this. Having a blast so far having done a few missions.
Starship Troopers vibes are strong, loving it.
PSN id is PrivateFloyd if anyone fancies some missions.

I bought it on Friday and have so far managed to successfully join a game 4 times.
It is utterly fucked.
I’m amazed at the seemingly free ride this is getting from the corners of gaming hell that would normally be wailing and bleating without breath.

I've had a couple of crashes and sometimes "can not connect to server" when trying to join a mission that has already started. I do wonder if there are issues with the difficulty of the game. Sometimes easy is fricken mental hard and then another time medium is a breeze. Not sure if it just team mates issues or me being really bad but it does seem a bit random at times. I'll be on tomorrow evening for some games. I managed to join some FG folk last night with varying degrees of success Not sure how everyone is placed with comms as I feel it may go a bit easier with some chatter amongst the madness.

I love this. It's a great shooter, with a great progression system, that I wish was just a little bit more immersive around the edges (wish the spaceship was more alive and there was a bit more of a focus on humanity's progress beyond the percentage increase) to get my full Starship Troopers buzz from it. Minor complaint though. A fucking huge well done to the devs for making a PVE game that doesn't require a party or comms to really enjoy (I'm up to extreme difficulty so guess that will change with the toughest difficulties but it's completely fine playing with randoms so far).
I hope it gets regular content updates.
Mark1412 on PSN if anyone wants a teammate who's operating at about 80% success rate in not carpet bombing friendlies.

The most fun I've had with a co-op shooter since Left 4 DeadThat's a hell of an endorsement from Keith Stuart. I'm on the cusp but genuinely worried about the friendly fire aspect, which I know is baked in as a key part of the gameplay. I'm quite shit and can see myself really annoying teammates. Basically, can you play this if you are well-meaning but rubbish?

Considering getting it on the PS5, miss the gears and beers sessions of old, seems like a good replacement.
Price seems reasonable, but does it have the legs
Am shit as well, hence the beers to steady my aim (my excuse)
Can we recruit this guy?

Basically, can you play this if you are well-meaning but rubbish? It's completely accepted as part of the fun. Again, I imagine on the top difficulties you'd find people getting annoyed but I'm up to the sixth difficulty of nine and have yet to find anyone kicking or giving agro. If you happen to be in the middle of a particularly large group of bugs, you're assuming you're going to be on the fun end of a missile barrage. It's part of the game. There's generous respawning and no penalty for dying other than your special equipment drops, but you can pick it up again. All four party members can call down multiple orbital airstrikes at the same time... It's definitely baked in!

My son and I had just had a quick go each - me on my own (got slaughtered) and my son with one guy who clearly knew what he was doing (extracted successfully).
The game is nuts, and seems brilliant. It may be that it all gets quite familiar quite quickly but after just one go there seems to be a lot to get used to in terms of systems. It feels very slick so far. And the Starship Troopers vibe is perfect.
I'm not one for a lot of MP, but if anyone is on tomorrow evening not too late I'd be happy to be carried for a mission or two - PSN id is Flexible_Feline. Fair warning, I do prefer to chat in coop games and this seems like one that would definitely benefit from it.
Anyway, if you see me and fancy showing me the ropes please feel free.

Is there single payer and can you pause it? I doubt very much if you can pause it even in solo. Randoms can spawn in at pretty much any time there's a sorte going on. Maybe you can toggle sp only but you would really be missing out in the bedlam if you went solo.

All but one of us was dead and I killed a bile titan boss by landing my respawn pod on it. I felt like a hero for 3 seconds until a teammates turret immediately mowed me down when i stood up.

I had a similar moment last night, and also learned that if you hit a target with a resupply it actually sticks, which is handy if you don't have any vehicle-killers to hand!
Still haven't managed to land my own drop pod on anything though. Good work.
The new forest planet really changes up the atmosphere.

Crazy how much better the graphics are if you turn depth of field off and turn the sharpness up to full. Anti aliasing seems to have no impact on performance either so it's odd that it's turned off by default.

I'm looking forward to whatever game pushes this one off my GOTY throne, that game will have to be fucking incredible.
It's been pretty much all I've been playing since it came out last week hitting level 22 last night, it really is so much bloody (literally) fun. The original Helldivers was a fun time but this is something else.
The relief of a successful extraction, even if the mission was a bust, when your super destroyer has buggered off and you're left with what you can find on the field hoping Pelican 1 lands before you get wiped is sensational.
I may have been panicking a bit this time though...

Are you all playing in pre-arranged groups out of interest? Because I seriously cannot get the matchmaking to work about 99% of the time.

What you on, PS5? Only got it yesterday but it's been pretty much faultless for me. Quick match will get me straight into someones game or if I start my own mission people join straight away. Played about 6 or 7 missions without a problem.

No, but I start my own lobby and have people join me. Seems to work well.

I'm playing with people on my friends list, although I while I was trying to farm some commons and test out some new stratagems (spent my liberation bonus 10K reqs) I did accidentally throw out an SOS beacon instead of a a resupply (don't know how that happened) and three people turned up shortly after. Considering I was just about to extract they got some free money and medals for doing very little indeed. One of them did kill me 5 seconds after arriving, which was nice, I'm not sure what he was shooting at but I'll assume it was accidental.

Yeah, PS5. Literally every time I press square to find a match it finds one and then fails to join.
I didn’t bother trying last night, so maybe they’ve rolled out another fix.

So this game is pretty shit, right? Sounds like there's no need to worry about buying it and I can just focus on my backlog.

Matchmaking was mostly working fine on PS5 last night, with occasional refusals to join other peoples lobbies from the map,
The game crashed 3 times in 2 hours last night though. Definitely still janky

Its kind caught me off guard how good it actually is. When it really starts kicking off and the orbital strikes are raining down it's up there with any shooter I've played.

How's the Co-op Side of things with randoms? Do they actually play it properly?
