I’d say 9/10 for the campaign seems very reasonable so far. It’s really impressive, quite varied (sometimes in the same mission) and really fun.
Bits of it have even felt like a Mission Impossible sort of spy heist. But then the level will change it up midway.
There’s I think two big puzzles to solve in the safe house. I’ve done one and it was really well done, with lots of sequential steps, although the actual in-game reward was a bit underwhelming. I can’t seem to find the start of the trail for what I believe to be the second one.
Have played up to the end of the mission that was previewed before it released.

Played two missions so far, I would describe it as very similar to the Black Ops Cold War in its structure down to the safe house with mysteries but with a bigger playspace. The missions haven't felt incredible but I appreciate that Treyarch do try to do something different from the in your face stuff Infinity Ward does and whatever Sledgehammer does. Visually I'm disappointed that it still looks of the PS4 era and that they abandoned ray tracing in this one.

Ha, yeah, it is not a looker. Characters are bad.

Thought the same about the visuals. Haven't played a COD game since maybe MW3 on the 360, maybe a later one on PS4. Either way, based on the first level this didn't look *that* many leagues ahead of MW3, the biggest thing that stood out to me was actually the HDR implementation which looked great.

I've done three missions and know it's not for me. Need some weight to my shooty, some freedom, some fun. Tempted to try mp but think the glory days of being any good at that are long gone.

Seems I'm actually quite good at the MP on this. The aim assist nerf seems to have made everyone a bit worse where as I've always relied heavily on manual aiming and it seems to be paying off. Played with my 2 mates who are both way better than me and was holding my own all night when I normally get battered in their lobbies.
Everything being scorestreak based has made people play the objective more which is a good thing.

There’s no SBMM in this, is there? So lobbies are just random no matter who’s playing.

Having just finished the big sandbox mission I think to say this looks PS4 era must mean you are viewing that era with rose tinted specs tbh!
I will say Treyarch’s stuff often is, for some reason, a few per cent less great in the graphics stakes than IW’s best.
Speaking of that sandbox mission, that’s for me one of the best shooter levels I’ve ever done. It took bloody ages too, and I’ve had to park it there for the night.

I swear I’d read that this one was removing it, but obviously not.

I don't think they'll ever remove SBMM as it would allow sweaty pros to continually kerb stomp everyone despite their continous protestations.

Had a CTD every 45mins or so tonight. Latest Nvidia drivers installed. Each crash is reported as a DirectX issue... Shaders compiled before starting the level too.
I haven't played a COD since MWII so it looks quite nice to me - though some of the shadows look very 'buzzy'.

I had an achievement pop for Safehouse puzzles so I assume there's no more to do after that. It felt like all one puzzle trail rather than 2 though. Tbh i was more distracted by this stuff after Mission 2 than starting the next shooty bang assasination rescue

SpiralScratchI’ve completed the trail from the piano to the bunker to the upstairs safe . However, Adler’s to-do list found near the firing range outside suggests there is something to do with the lift shaft - there’s a clue about bats getting in through it - might just be narrative padding though. For the life of me I can’t find anything.

Played some of the campaign and its decent, thankfully nothing like the MW3 reboot shite (not that I played it but so many people said the same thing)
Been a while since I last played COD single player, so a bit rusty

Same, I've done the first of those. good point, I saw that possible second clue early on then forgot about it. maybe a red herring, or maybe something else to do?

From what I've seen there's only one mystery in the safe house that leads to one prize. You have to do a fair few puzzles but the reward is the only thing you get.

One thing I don't like in the campaign
zombie mode shit with bullet sponge "bosses" and waves of zombies rushing you. the level would be better with out the bosses

Now it’s not a spoiler per se, you can find a to-do list that seems to hint there is a cave or something connected to the loft shaft with bats getting in, but it’s just window dressing. I do wish there were more as it was a really fun sequence of puzzling. Had a few rounds of MP now. There’s the usual drag of not having create a class for a few levels but once I get that I tend to get more invested. It’s pretty good. I think the omni movement bollocks is just a bit of marketing red herring as it doesn’t seem to really affect things and seems mainly set up for Tik Tok after 500 takes against a compliant opponent. Maybe it’s different for KBM types.

Totally agree about the puzzling I really enjoyed it more as it went on giving me another puzzle to puzzle solve and I thought the game would give more intricate ones as I get further in the campaign but no. A bit of a missed opportunity there methinks. Campaign is ok so far though nothing standout but it's nice to have mission after mission of bang bang loud explosion every minute.

Pretty bored with the campaign so far. Just starting mission four. Story pretty stupid and uninteresting and the missions are nothing that haven’t been done many times already.

Stop playing?
No point in spending time on something you aren't enjoying.

I would if it was a big game but I’m sure I’m probably half way through already so I might as well see if the story goes anywhere.

drakeypoos the Omni movement will be more in the top level lobbies. It takes a lot of skill/luck to dive shot and kill someone. The full rotation whilst prone is great though as is sprint in all directions.

Maybe 50 or 60% done and I don't think the campaign is 9/10 like the crappy sites say it is. I started off enjoying (as have not played a COD campaign in a few years) but the game still has the dumb AI and the trademark of enemies having infinite explosives, eg they have endless RC cars until you push forward (only seen 2 instances of this so far)
Maybe its 7/10 for the campaign so far

Has there been any sign of when they'll be bringing the back catalogue over?
Haven't played a cod since MW2 on the 360 and was gonna give this a go... Is it the best or do I wait for more of the old ones to come to GP

Might as well play this now tbh

I just finished it. One of the most generous in terms of time and content in the single player I think. I also think this may be the first time COD has ever made me empathise with a villain a bit and I thought the latter stage stuff leading up to that was really well done. A couple of missions that didn’t reach the heights, but quite a few that really did and a lot of variety. Up there with the best overall, to me, and some sandbox missions have different ways to complete them so there is more replay value there too. As somebody that was a bit of a nerd for jets as a teen it does kill me when COD tries to show air power though. Like the monstrous hybrid of A6/A7 and British lightning that has Gatling guns - in the air intakes. Urrrgh. I can only presume it’s licensing issues but even that doesn’t explain that nonsense.
