Thomas Grip of Frictional (Amnesia, Soma) has been tweeting a good amount in the last few weeks and there is talk of some kind of "deadline".
May 4th: "Closing in on a deadline is a lot like closing in on a black hole.
External time goes faster and the laws of physics start breaking down."

I see the uncensored Garage Bad Dream Adventure is coming to Steam. Wonder if it will work on Steam Deck. Of course it will be triple the price of the Android version...

Interested, but only mildly so. After all, AITD was never known for its subtext and thinking man's story.

It just seems to be Mikael Hedberg though and he hasn't been working for Frictional for years.
Still don't have the slightest clue what that tweet was about. Thomas Grip still occasionally tweets something, but that's mostly random thoughts.

I was banished upstairs last night as the wife and boy were watching something, so I fired up the One X and thought I would start FEAR 2 seeing as how I finished FEAR a few months back.
I've played this game countless times and the hospital STILL scares the shit out of me.

New details on AITD are out. Seems the story will draw upon all three games from the original trilogy. It will also be less actionized than the RE2 Remake.
Apparently the demo shown at Gamescom was not part of the full game, but a playable prologue called Grace in the Dark, where you play as Grace from AITD2 (who will appear as a NPC in the game proper). This demo will eventually be released to the public at a later date, hopefully soon.

So both Remothered games are really cheap on PSN and I bought them because I've managed to break time and my days now have 72 hours in them instead of the usual 24 (or rather - I'm never going to have any fucking time to play them). I know the second one apparently has issues but after a few patches I'm hoping it'll be playable. Quite curious to try them as (particularly the first one) I've heard some good things said.
Sticking with the horror theme, Doki Doki Literature Club is fucking freaking me out.

Is that the one with Captain Janeway as the protagonist?
Been finking about playing one of the Evil Withins as I haven't finished either and it's mostly dark now. Although I've also been considering playing a JRPG so I don't really know what I want. Why is it so complicated

Haha no way for me on that one.
First person survival horror is just too immersive and hence more terror inducing for me. I really think RE7 is a great game but I can’t progress far without needing a break each time I get to a save room.
Anything where I am being chased I hate lol.

Song of Horror is good. Make sure to be very cautious though. The game loves killing you in hardly predictable ways, and having to replay an entire chapter because you lost your last character near the end is not very fun.

I read too many things about song of horror that put me off grabbing it but if it’s decent I’ll maybe get it next time it’s on sale.

If you are subscribed and redeem the games every month, check your library, it's probably there. The scourge of too many free games is that I gotta check several different libraries every time I feel like buying something that is even just remotely not popular. Because chances are I already have it.

Frictional have announced another Amnesia. Amnesia - The Bunker as it seems. Haven't watched trailer yet and will probably wait for more information, but some of you might still be interested.

So I was thinking... Evil Within. I remember dropping it near the start because of that absolutely horrible stealth section with the big monster. Does it get any better?
I'm also reading the PC port is pretty bad, so I don't know. Sure 60fps would be nice, but not if enemies deal twice the damage...

Therefore I would say yes. However lots of people hate big chunks of the game so it could also be a no.

Now that I think about it, I could just give it a quick try with Game Pass. It will last me another four of five days after all.
And if I like it, right now Fanatical has EW and Doom 2016 on sale for 7 euro total, which would be quite nice (Doom in particular is still not on Game Pass PC for some reason).

Oh, and apparently I completely missed that Remigiusz Michalski (The Cat Lady, Lorelai) has released another game: Burnhouse Lane.
He makes horror point-and-clicks. Good writing, atmosphere and music usually. Not really focussed on difficulty of puzzles or something like that.

Talking of horror, I was really enjoying Apsulov this week. Pushed aside for now for Callisto Protocol but I was really quite enjoying it. It's not perfect and it really doesn't look very good at all graphically, but it's a tremendously dark take on Norse mythology. It's like a less shooty and more Norse Doom 3.

I quite enjoyed it as well. Possibly more than Amnesia: Rebirth. The world-building and story seemed a bit thin, but the environments and atmosphere were great and it was nice that they were willing to mix up the formula a bit. Granted, in the end it's still just kind of a limited weapon, but I feel it was competently integrated and it was satisfying to have an option other than hiding or running away.

My god, the PC port of Evil Within is the worst I've ever seen. It makes my laptop go into a seizure for minutes before starting. And also every time you change a setting. Then you finally start playing and it runs like ass.
You know what, I don't have to put up with this crap. I can grab Doom on its own some other time.

So. Because I often get a random horror itch I just have to scratch I've decided to do something a bit different, and take a punt on some of the millions of indie horror games on PSN, particularly as some are reduced to peanuts.
Therefore I am currently messing about with: Among the Sleep Silver Chains Conarium Apsulov Welcome to Hanwell
All have various degrees of jank, but I'm actually quite impressed / surprised wih what I've seen in each one so far. The stand out is the incredibly rough Welcome to Hanwell (I can't even invert look ffs) and it's blatant pilfered Silent Hill ideas. In it, you explore the borough of Hanwell, which is deserted and shrouded in fog. Sirens will blare intermittently heralding the arrival of monsters. What's surprising is just how much there actually is in here. The town itself is pretty big and you are essentially thrown in to do your own thing. There's a day / night / weather cycle, as well as rudimentary combat (you can pick up weapons for melee, drop them at will and some areas don't let you take a weapon inside). There's an option when you run to glance back and see what's chasing you a la Dying Light, as well as a weird sonar ability when you sometimes get completely enveloped in darkness. There's some fairly effective scares and surreal moments of sanity loss and - for what is essentially a cheap as fuck game ripping every other horror game off - it's quite an entertaining experience for a couple of quid.

I just wanted to try out a few weapons but I ended up completing the original Dead Space over the weekend (again).
I wondered, why does impossible difficulty never show in the new game menu though? It turns out you've got to get past the end credits and not save the game, then impossible is available. So that's how what is probably my final run of original Dead Space began.
The drop rates are incredibly miserly compared to the game on hard, selling everything I can and stasis melee killing as much as possible I might be able to upgrade 2-3 guns most or all the way but might still be on the level one suit for the final boss. I can take the final boss no damage as long as I've got a reasonably upgraded Pulse Rifle but there are a few fights I'm dreading, one in particular near the end where you're escorting the marker back.
