I messaged the chap a few weeks ago to ask about consoles as I’ve been following this for a while. He said he would love to so I suppose just wait and see. It looks awesome.

What's this Texas Chainsaw game like. Anyone know? It's only seven quid and looks like good fun. I'd only be playing with randos and no voice chat though.

I had my fun with it. It really depends if you get a bunch of people that know what they're doing. I actually preferred it to Dead by Daylight, which my partner loves, and found Texas not as fun.

I’d probably just have a handful of games like I did with Evil Dead. Fuck it. I want to see what it’s like.

I did read the balancing is way off haha. Can't really complain for that price anyway. I might consider it myself for a quick blast again. The last time I did play it.. I had a bunch of lads who berated me for not knowing where to go. I cried for days.

Ha, I have no doubt I'm just going to fuck up everyone's game but I like playing these things for a bit to get some proper retro horror vibes. Evil Dead was the same.

I bought that evil dead one as well! I was getting on quite well with it but didn't have any co op buddy's. Randoms do my head in.

Sounds mental! Sounds like it's got mixed reviews, which I don't care about, and it seems you need some really good coop skills to pull it off.
What platform, ps4 or 5? Just saw an issue about crossplay is all

Another interesting looking retro PS1 era looking horror game called Fear the Spotlight.
It's set in a school so a bit like Silent Hull? 😅

There are too many horror games goddammit.
I've never watched the chainsaw massacre either. I've just realised that.

I'm now regularly having 1-2 games of Texas Chainsaw before bed. It's properly good. Haven't gone as a killer yet as the survivor is too much fun. Not close to escaping yet but just love how the odds are stacked against you so much. It's properly tense. it doesn't feel unfair either. Just a proper fight for survival. I'm really, pleasantly surprised. It's one of the most tense gaming experiences ever.
There's also Rush Week, which is just proper old school slasher film. A killer breaks into a sorority and it's basically one vs 6 of you. You just have to survive long enough to call the cops and wait for them to arrive. It's over in minutes sometimes and has a wonderful 80s synthwave soundtrack.

What happened on Evil within is interesting, it was a bit clunky and janky and this is why. Played at launch on ps4 and got the complete edition on xbox one (but never played it much but will do for halloween)
another Silent hill type game from 1 dev - becrowned - it looks good

Dredge.
I don't think this is a horror game. Mainly because it's difficult to care about the fate of a boat unless you personally own it and have to pay for the loan and upkeep. I'm reminded of the original Dead Space, when you died there were numerous scenes that depicted your final fate despite you being a silent armoured protagonist, in my opinion that's the redeeming feature of the Tomb Raider games, when you die you'd get a specific death scene. Lava. Dismemberment. Impalement. Crushing.
I'm sure it would balloon the budget but something like a scene depicting the horrific fate of Quint in Jaws would elevate Dredge to horror. A boat torn asunder, sinking beneath the waves though... Who cares about that?
Good game, highly recommended, but not horror.

I like both TEW games. I think an element of jank elevates some survival horror games. I just remember the first one having some weird difficulty spikes. I'm actually thinking of running through it again after I'm done with the SH2 remake.

For anybody who was curious but never got to play P.T. If you own a copy of Dreams, there's a P.T. 10th Anniversary Edition recreated entirely within the Dreams engine currently up and playable. It's amazing how close they got considering.
How long it will be around is anybody's guess so it's probably best to check it out now.

Think I'm gonna start Sanitarium as my Halloween kind of game. Never played it before, but I have great expectations.

Phasmophobia has a console release today. Has anyone played it? Just curious if I can play it solo as I’m really tempted by a spot of ghost hunting but don’t want to do it co op.
