This is really excellent. Buttery smooth and so well designed.
Other than the Battle Pass, which is a bit shit.

Yeah I bought the Battle Pass, like a fucking rube. It seems vaguely pointless, I was hoping for some cool stuff.

I don't mind the content in it. I'd seen the Season 0 BP in the tech tests and the BPs are visible before you purchase.
The problem for me is that it's so slow. No XP contributes to it, so you have to complete challenges and they aren't all available to complete in all modes. Forces your hand into playstyles and games quite a bit.
Season 1 also runs into May, apparently, which is a long time to chip away at it.

I also bought the pass like a fool. Progress does seem painfully slow. Especially the 'Kill Spartan with weapon x'
Especially annoying when I did kill one with said weapon in my last match and it didn't count for some reason.
To be honest, I am OK with some passes as a couple of quid to the devs if support is good. I nearly always get the Rocket Pass on Rocket League as I have played that for years for 'free'.

I've had some great close games with Oddball. Really is fun but milage varies with random...sometimes great, other times they are running about going for weapons whilst the ball runs off. Getting someone to rockets on the street map can gain you a massive advantage in the early part of the game. |

I ran away from the battle pass once I realised there's no way to earn enough currency from it to buy the next battle pass. Is that how it works in CoD and Battlefield? Maybe I'm spoilt by Fortnite but I paid for that one once, in Feb 2020, and I've had about 5 seasons from it so far.

If you haven’t completed the one you are on you can select any battle pass you wish to complete, just a case of switching between them. |

Anyone else seeing the bug where the score screen is showing you on the opposite team? Just won a round of Strongholds and apparently “Your Team” was Eagle rather than Cobra…

This is bringing back memories of how bad I used to be at Quake and Unreal. Easy to pick up and play but man my last session was brutal. Didn’t realise Halo had such a high skill ceiling.

Hey, this Halo thing is pretty good!
I missed Halo when it originally came out and most of the series didn't come to PC until recently, so it is a series I haven't really played. I did try out the single player of the first one and (I think) Reach in the MCC when that came to PC, but bounced off them.
This is a lot of fun though. It really does feel like jumping back to age when FPS games were fun and before modern warfare (both with a small M and W, as well as a little m and w) made it all serious and full of "progression".
The shooting/movement is really great and means that basic Team Deathwatch modes are still a lot of fun. Oddball is great too, as well as the more standard capture point mode.
I didn't play CTF, but I did play the similar Stockpile. I didn't find that mode a little underwhelming and a little unfocused. The stealing power seeds seemed to take forever and there were so many around the map that it was better to just all charge for those and get back to base as soon as you could. With coordination maybe there is more strategy, but with randoms it didn't seem to work.
Only blip I had during my couple of hours of play tonight though and even then I still had a good time.

Yeah I was on a the end of a 50-8 slayer match and a 100+ domination defeat but the next match I captured a flag so was super happy |

In contrast to the experience I'm having with Battlefield 2042, this is just so damn smooth! 20 years of playing Halo has done me OK as I appear to not be getting slaughtered either. Genuinely can't wait to play more.

I had some delay in getting into games last night around 8 but it seemed fine once I was in the game.
This game is delicious, I don't know if it's the lack of Halo or Halo style games recently but this seems like such a breath of fresh air when compared to every other shooter I've played recently (Battle Royale shit).
