I can't wait to play this and love all arkanes work but watching some videos of deathloop it's just made me want to play prey and again and specifically mooncrash and was just reading this. www.thegamer.com/prey-mooncrash-is-the-better-deathloop/Also no clip on YouTube last week released an hour documentary on the making of prey, great watch as always.. Yeah need to watch them. I'm midway through their Thief documentary just now. Love Noclip. I'm now in the middle of Death of the Outsider and I'm really enjoying it. It didn't click with me first time around, not sure why, maybe I played it too close to D2, but it's great.

The Prey doc is awesome and made me want to play it again. Criminally underrated and my favourite Arkane game by some distance. Completely forgot about Mooncrash though so will be picking that up after Deathloop.
I'm still not fully sure how I feel about Deathloop. I'm only a couple of hours in, have just killed Harriet, and am starting to see how everything works. It's fun, the world is great, as usual, and I'm starting to get the itch to go and get more upgrades etc. I like how you are free to explore, but that it also steers you in the right direction, but the constant tutorial popups and horrible UI really take the edge off! I feel like they are tying themselves in knots trying to explain something that is actually very simple.
It's quite clunky how it all hangs together, I dont think the systems make much sense, which is probably why they are explaining everything at such length. But having to go through so many menus etc is grating a little, maybe it'll get less of an issue. I cant help but compare it to Returnal, which is a streamlined masterpiece.

Deathloop and Mooncrash, despite some similarities are trying to achieve very different things. Can't really say one is doing it better than the other, because all the things Deathloop does that make it Deathloop are things Mooncrash doesn't do at all. One's a roguelike, the other isn't
I do prefer mooncrash though. Deathloop's probably Arkane's weakest effort post Dishonored.

Having a really good run, picked up a new power from Julianna and a butt load of residium.
Get into a fight and the suddenly the game freezes on me and when it unfreezes I'm fucking surrounded. This happened for all 3 fucking lives!!
Fuck this game and the horse it rode in on.

Finally got the chance to play this. Got through the first couple of areas - mainly through stealth and just shooting people in th head if I got spotted. I'm liking it so far although the controls seem a bit 'light' I'll turn down the sensitivity and see if that helps

Super silly question, but howTF do you download the pre-order bonus gumpf? I've redeemed my code and it's in my transaction history, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it, in game, in the store or in the main system menu.

Just completed this and, whilst it was fun, I don't think I will ever play it again. The nature of the story demands every loop be the same until you affect it, and that's what will make me not replay it. Also, playing as Julianna is just boring.

Brilliant.

Anyone find that stack of 'dominoes' in Updaam (Afternoon)? Brilliant. I did! That was special. Favourite thing I found: leave the bloke playing making a horrible racket with a guitar alone and come back later in the day. Practice makes perfect...

Finally got all my ducks in a row to take on all the Visionaries in one day and finish it, here goes...
Been really good fun this. Not perfect, but I'd almost certainly buy a sequel.

I think that was my main critique of Deathloop, because the steps to completing it are so signposted, it doesn't feel like I accomplished anything myself, I just did what the game told me. Maybe that's a weird complaint as most games tell you what to do, but for some reason it really stood out in this.

Yeah I totally get that. For me I'm kinda glad it's signposted so it works for me. It allows me more room to work on taking on those signposted steps using everything I've learned on levels so I can do them with style.
I started quite concerned I'd never be able to match the way they were playing the game in the trailers, but I've actually become quite 'good' (it's a very easy game, but I can do the cool shit well now) not having to also spend too much time scuttling around looking for vague clues on how to take people down.
It really could have done with a hard mode, maybe making the kills on Visionaries less obvious as well as making combat an actual challenge.

So without getting too much info, when I get to the stage to take all 8 out in a day, the game will tell me the order to do them in?
I've only killed 3 so far on separate days and on the second I fucked up as I left all my residium behind so I couldn't keep shift.

Hope this helps

It also became very clear a few hours in that enemies protect their little area, and don't seem to react what happening around the next corner, so I could've done with better AI, but that's the game, I doubt they can fix that.

Heh, yeah. They all have very obvious little areas. It's MGS1 stuff.
I like it a lot but I've no idea where the perfect scores are coming from. It has a lot of little fundamental issues like that.

Talking of MGS - that new mission in Death Stranding's Directors Cut edition, even though it's blink and youll miss it, it was so good to play a new "Tanker" mission from Hideo. Just the music instantly made me giddy lol.

Oh man, I'll have to give that a go later, I've only fired it up to check out how it looks so far.
Just finished this now. Was great feeling so powerful and annihilating all of the Visionaries in a row like that. Didn't think much to the ending if I'm honest, I've checked out the other options and they aren't much better. There's quite an interesting little plot to this but I found it very poorly told. Been a really fun little game though overall.

It's especially jarring in the party in Updaam where you can just murder everyone in one area with a huge gunfight and then there's a bunch of people 2 rooms over dancing.

Finished today, also. Will probably go and mop up some achivements, but it's Arkane's weakest in their Dishonored era for sure.

I've only completed the first Dishonoured so I can't comment on how this compares to their other games, but it is definitely not their best. The gameplay, characters, atmosphere, and even the premise are all Fantastic, it just wasn't but together in the most satisfying way.

Glad i didn't cave in and get this now, seems one to wait until £30. Nier Replicant has finally dropped to £32 so will get that instead. The perils of digital only 🥴

Personally I loved it. I do get the critique that maybe there should be less signposting, but at the same time it gives you space to focus on how you approach it rather than what it is you need to do; and when an online player invades it winds up putting all your plans to one side, and you need to improvise. A bit more time up-close with the Visionaries would have been nice too, but overall it's my favourite game this year.

I've really tried to like this game,I really really have but the randomness combined with the save system is just so frustrating.
I can have a great run but then die to some random unforeseeable bullshit. Over and over and over. I feel like I'm the one caught in a bloody timeloop!

Ooh there is a hatchet?
I almost never use ranged weapons unless it goes wrong. I tend to sprint and slide kick/execute my way around the map.

I was very much knife/nail gun until shit hits the fan, then it was machine gun/shotty and kinesis thereafter.
It's a real shame it's so easy really. I never had to bother mixing up what I used for different situations.

Killed my first Visionary earlier - I'm glad the game has properly opened up now, though. I was just starting to get tired of the hand-holding...

Turning off the objective markers is definitely the way to go for me. More time to suss out the environment and coming across the opportunity dynamically rather than beelining towards the objective. Also spent a lot of time as Juliana. I'm not that far into the game so I haven't seen this as Colt but 2 or 3 times now I've come across Colt players that can seemingly one shot me at full health with some gun and combined trinket that also poisons me. Nothing I can really do to counter it and you won't know until its too late. I'm just happy enough to get 1 life out of a Colt player as it will frustrate their efforts to complete that level. Some of the costumes I got for Juliana are as good as her default.
