decided to re-play metro exodus again or at least until I get bored. its still very pretty Is it actually more open world than the others? I thought I had heard something to that effect.
Whatever you do, get Barachiel something other than the Assault Cannon. I don't mind the Plasma Cannon for him, but I think melee gets the most consistent results.
Outside of the campaign it seems to help to go as Apothecary or Tactical/Chaplain yourself.

Yeah, Barachiel needs shield and hammer ASAP. And you have to learn the commands to make Nahum heal himself, Barachiel and you.
Barachiel can be deadly with heavy weapons, too, but the problem is inconsistency, because his AI has sometimes problems tracking enemies in more complex environments. With shield and hammer, you can just let him trail along in the back and he'll be mostly fine and kill everything that comes from there. Also, he's good against the big guys with this loadout.

It depends on the area. The opener is constrained but then the second area (Volga) is a family large snowy area with multiple objectives within it and you can explore a bit. It's not a giant landmass where you can free roam at will but it there is a bit more freedom. It's very pretty and I like that actions are considered, the map is on a clipboard and the objectives are on the reverse so artyom actively gets things out and flips them over. I'm sure it'll grow tiring again but it's a change from not playing anything for a while

Can't stop playing. Please send help. How involved is the battle system by the way? Do you have to manage a lot of it, or is it more a light add-on to the strategy/politics-part?

It's Stellaris, and you can't manage anything in battle at all. You basically just move fleets around, and then they attack enemy fleets, and all you can do is emergency escape or wait until it's resolved.

It's basically the same combat system as other Paradox games; the difference here is you get to watch it happen.

I'd say that's a positive for me. 4x-/Grand Strategy-games are already pretty intensive on the micromanagement, so I don't really want an involved battle system on top of that.

Had a pretty insane run in Binding of Isaac: Rebirth with Azazel. I found the prayer card very early on, which basically negates all of the downsides of Azazel. You see, he starts with three black hearts, which are not replenishable through normal means. But the prayer card allows you to actually get normal heart containers, and as you can see, I made very good use of it.
I also found lots of other OP stuff during that run, such as spear of destiny (high melee damage), infamy (chance to negate all damage from a hit), goat head (always spawn an angel/devil room after boss), pyro (gives 99 bombs) and tech x (changes your tears to a huge piercing AoE effect).
I still almost died against cathedral boss:
Here's another run, in which I found lots of buddies:
And some leftover of a boss that was ganked by my buddy squad (I also transformed from a hippie dude into a nun apparently):
And yet another one, during which I somehow became the knife murderer from the Scream movies. Also, lots of friendly spiders for some reason.

Finally finished Crying Suns. There are some bright moments here and there, but the nihilism runs deep with this one.

Armored Head. I was happy to see that there is a bit of a send-off after the last wave of enemies.
The arena.
Oh! What cruel dystopic world. Robot killing robots for..... the entertainment of yet more robots apparently.
This was very much appreciated. The cup was a nice little ironic reward, but the statistics were actually interesting.
Not tooo bad I suppose.

Fallout 4. Got to respect the modding community for this game, some of the things they've created are magnificent.
My quest to completely pave over Sanctuary and turn it into a nice little town with a high street of shops continues nicely.
From this:
To this:
"Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range." "Hey, just what you see, pal".
Big head mode enabled.
"You're going to come visit, right?"
I've never understood the fashion industry. Those people are so clothes minded.
I'm not even supposed to be here today.
"I gave up alcohol after settling down here. Doctors said I shot my liver."
Eat your greens, people.
Animated sprinkler system in the greenhouse. They do nothing of value, but they look fantastic.
Marcy couldn't be civil, so Marcy gets to tend the fish farm. By herself. Forever.
"Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"
Evidence lockup:
"Mama Murphy's good as her word, kid. No more chems."

From the RPS archives, it's Shadow of the Tomb Raider. If you haven't seen 'em, they're new to you.

Eastward
This guys' shop has a leaky roof. Why, you ask?
Because his roof is a duck pond, that's why.
I enjoy the time of day transitions.
Early morning fog filter. Also; "Welcome to Jazz Club. Niiiiice."
Because nothing bad ever happened in a place like this:
eep.
Takes more than a few little flames to scare me, love.

How is that (Eastward)? I've seen it in either the Xbox Marketplace or the Nintendo eShop, I don't remember which, but I was curious about it.

Great shots, but....if the front of the paper is the right way round, and Mr Hitman has folded the bottom half up...doesn't that mean the bit he's reading is actually upside down? Not very stealthy IMHO...

It is, but they had it the correct way first and testers complained it was inversed.

Red Faction: Guerilla:
I know, it looks bad, vandalising gonvernment property and so on, but the lower half of the ladder had broken off during combat and the second hostage was on the second floor.....
...but that is what building destruction physics are for!
Also, the game doesn't actually care that it's all skewed. I could still interact with the hostage without any problems.

I remember the original Red Faction demo on PC. Blew my mind how you could blow up all the environments.
