I just got back home from seeing Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and I’m sorry to say it was fucking shit. I may expand on this tomorrow once I’ve had some sleep and breakfast. For now, very unimpressed.

Love that song and jorja is so hot.
Been listening to benny, Conway and Gibbs almost exclusively lately. So damn good AND such a high output lately, all three have a crazy amount of singles, features, Lps and all on a high level.
I think Conway needs some better beats though, so pretty weak beats with those dope lyrics.
Gibbs new album is growing a lot on me. At first I didn't like the production switch but I've given it time and it's solid. Definitely not as good as the last two albums though.

Just discovered J.I.D and his album The Forever Story. Up in my top albums of the year for sure.
I'm also loving Kno & Sadistik - Bring Me Back When the World is Cured (probably my favourite album of the year) and Cheat Codes by Danger Mouse and Black Thought.
Oh and this is a banger too

Takeoff from Migos shot and killed. Crazy how many of the younger generation of rappers get killed now.

Not related to music in this case, though. Just about how people in America nowadays immediately reach for guns in almost any situation. 😐

For some bizare reason I never checked out casisdead even though I loved what's my name, pat earrings and 501. Spent the last couple of days playing his one album and various other singles on repeat. DAMN I absolutely love all of it and it's the best album I've heard in a while.

Yeah it's great, classic Nas mixed with some top notch production. Crazy he's still pumping out albums like this, this far into his career.

I found all the kings disease albums a bit boring. Nas on point as always but I just don't like hit boy production it seems. Each album only had a few beats I liked and most made me uninterested in listening again. Glad Nas getting all the props now though as he is definitely one of my favourites.

Spotify randomly just played Simon says and oh no after my queue ended. Classics and now I've added all his stuff to bump for the next few hours.

You should have heard his rapping style when he was with Jaz-o. It was that rippity rap fast flow. In fact if you listen to some of Jaz-O's stuff you can see how much he influenced Jay-Z. His fast flow style was awful though. I'm going to have to listen to his stuff again to see if I can become more of a fan. Anything's possible. I think the edge might have started to wear down for me with WG - I managed to listen to Griselda Ghost without wanting to bite my fist
As for Jay-Z, I'm confident that he's not for me. I did pull a few tracks into my favourites but even when I'm listening through them on shuffle, I still skip them. They're good tracks, I just don't enjoy listening to them. I think it's his voice and general pompousness
I know you can't handle Westside Gunn but his latest album has a lot of quality features and some solid production so you might like it....maybe. Conway's latest is also solid. Hopefully they get together for another group project.

Flygod Jr and Red Death are stand outs for me but it's pretty consistent overall
Still no movement on Jay-Z though. Still skip any tracks I've got saved. Been doing it a lot with Dre recently as well
Unrelated, but love this

The whole Alfredo album is brilliant. 👍. His newest album is also great, especially the newly released deluxe version.

You only live 2wice is also a brilliant album. 24K Jesus and Amnesia are the standouts for me. Love the hook on Amnesia.
I'm going to bring up a really old debate....
Hit 'Em Up vs Who Shot Ya Against all odds vs Long Kiss Goodnight.

Only 54 as well, the average age of rappers must be ridiculously low.
Seem them live a few times and were always great.

It’s bloody hard to get hold of but De La Soul is Dead is one of the most underrated albums in hip hop. It is absolutely phenomenal.

It’s also great but I don’t think as underrated as Dead.
Stakes is High is also fantastic and right up there with the best mid 90s hip hop.
Sadly it was probably their last good album. Didn’t really like much they did after that.
