It’s so fucking over the top. Just stop and breathe for a second dammit. Again. Going from this to RE7 is mental.
Done chapter one of Jake now. It’s so very silly. Although I remember being short of ammo last time. I’m sitting on nearly 300 rounds just now…

I think the game is perfectly playable/enjoyable apart from Chris' campaign due to the lack of ammo. It's just a very standard action game - it isn't survival like the earlier ones or arcadey like 4/5
I don't think I would hate playing it but I don't want to play it either. It is super over the top and not wanting for ideas or set pieces. Pretty sure there's even a section with Chris where you fly a jet, ha

Going from this to RE7 is mental. I'm pretty sure the exact same thing was uttered quite a few times inside the hallowed halls of Capcom too.

Really feel like I’m missing out on a love in here. But when I can find the time to game I’m just absolutely savouring 5. I can’t believe this was an Xbox 360 game. It’s absolutely sumptuous to look at in parts. And it’s so good to play. This may all be coloured by nostalgia as I missed 3 and 4 when they were released and fell hard for this when it came out. I’m torn between cracking on through it and keep repeating that grindy cave level for the treasure though. I must have done about six re-runs over the last week and it’s great getting the weapon upgrades but then when I just let myself play it last night I couldn’t put it down and did three or four stages all the way to the spider boss , which I actually think is one of the better done bosses too. I think 4make possibly did weapon grinding a bit better because the vendor would purchase stuff you weren’t really using at good prices. I seem to get about 200 max for anything in this game! Anyway, loving it. Resident Evil 5 is a brilliant, brilliant game IMO.

What difficulty are you playing? Shouldn't have too much trouble just doing a normal playthrough
Just repeating the same levels over and over would be pants

Always whatever the standard is. Yeah I’ve moved on now. There is one stage though (the first one in the caves when Joshua drops you off in the boat) where there are dozens of gemstones and a couple of packed treasure chests. It’s got about four times the earnings of most stages. I played on last night and just beat the Wesker and Jill fight .

I’ve done RE5 on Hardcore many times and it’s not too bad as you get the infinite upgraded weapons first
However there are 2 levels where it’s hard to get an S rank, I have done it on the 3 versions I own but it’s a real challenge
I do know a foolproof way to do the Wesker Jill fight now though
Good to see another fan, it really is an incredible game!

Not sure if it has already come up in here (I assumed it was why this thread had popped up, but can't find mention of it), but the original Resident Evil trilogy will be getting a GoG release. www.gog.com/en/game/resident_evil_bundleThink the first is already available and can be bought individually or in a bundle with the other 2, which should be coming out later in the year. Never played any of these and had been wanting to play 2 and 3 before trying the recent remakes, so will definitely be picking these up. I do own the HD version of the first on Steam, which I assume is basically the same as the original?

Omg that's amazing! I've been wanting to replay the originals for agggeeesss!
After faffing with emulation and considered the cost of retro I'd all but given up.
Thanks for the heads up! Instabuy for me!

The original original was quite a bit different, the mansion was smaller and there was no graveyard or no Lisa Trevor etc

Yeah, the original RE is quite different to REmake. If you enjoy playing the older games, there's no reason not to play through the first one as well. It'll be a different experience

The original RE was the first Resident Evil game I ever played, I bought it with my first PlayStation along with V-Rally, which was a genuinely good rally game
I honestly could not believe it at the time, coming from the Megadrive and SNES it was such a step up - and that intro with the ridiculous voiceover, people call it cheesy now but back then it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen

With the recent leaks about Capcom definitely, possibly or not at all currently working on either 1, 0, CV, 5 or 9, I'm playing through CVX for the first time There really are a lot of zombies and the bowgun is rubbish. I'm going to start over as I wasted about 30 bolts trying to kill the stupid bats before switching to the gun to actually kill them and then deciding that I didn't need to kill them at all I like Claire's snazzy red shoes "Steve is suffering."
I know. I know. But I need to eliminate all the wrong solutions to the puzzle before I try the right one, just in case I'm wrong
Steve being a wanker aside, you can't beat old Resi. I don't know if the remakes have made me soft, but I'm feeling the pinch in this (although I have got 100+ bullets and 3 full heals having just reached the palace, but have spaffed most of my bolts)
Have I seen anything so far that makes me think it needs a remake? Aside from more Claire, not really. But we get another remake so that's good
In Code Veronica the knife is your best friend, it is overpowered and very useful. I played through the PS4 X version last year and it was my most used weapon throughout (jeep other ammo for enemies that are more difficult to kill with a knife)
