I found Mr X more present in Leon's campaign too, but I played his first so I don't know if that memory stuck more as a new experience and became a bit more disensetised with Claire.

Finished up Leon's campaign last night
Such a good, good remake and game in its own right. Glad I did Claire first as it made X's reappearances in Leon's campaign all the more unexpected and terrible. I think I got off lightly with him during the Claire run and paid for it later
Leon's campaign seemed a lot more difficult in general, not sure if that's standard or if the B campaigns have increased difficulty. Going back to the station as Leon with things moved around (especially the save rooms) was really disorientating as well, which might have added to it. Just seemed like a lot more enemies and more hectic overall
Claire gets an easy time of it in the sewer with the grenade launcher but the flamethrower makes the labs pretty easy going. Swings and roundabouts. Apparently I missed a weapon with Claire
Really enjoyed both though. The Sherry/orphanage section was a bit pants but everything else was great
Will go back and do Leon A/Claire B (probably on hard) at some point
Got RE8 to start tonight, maybe

Good luck and make sure you have a spare pair of knicks handy for that bit.

RE8 looks incredible even by REmake 2 standards. The first look at the village is amazing
Love snowy settings in games and the werewolves look cool. Worst part so far was the initial build up - feeling alright now I've got a couple of weapons
And put your hand away, Ethan. Just put it in your pocket or something. I don't want to see that

I couldn't handle the switch to 1st person, too scary! I'll stick with 2&3 thanks 😊

I couldn't handle the switch to 1st person, too scary! I'll stick with 2&3 thanks 😊 Have you tried playing it? I honestly don't think it's that scary. Apart from the initial horror game build up, it's nowhere near as bad as REmake 2. I think part of that is that it's quite easy and part because it's just very action orientated. It doesn't really trigger the fight or flight response because you're probably just going to kill everything anyway
The setting, atmosphere, tone and everything else are splendid
Lady Dimitrescu wasn't scary at all thanks to her being completely demystified by internet creeps but the castle was still a great section and the boss was rad
The doll bit was, uh, yeah. I did it all in one go as I was worried it'd take me a little while to go back to it if I left it half way, but it still wasn't as bad as X for me. It's tremendously well done and really tense but X on Leon's run was way worse. I think it being heavily scripted helped with that. The triggers for the... thing, were quite apparent as were the hiding spots so I just booked it at the first sign of it. I knew those corridoors were bad news the moment I saw them - the lighting as I was slowly creeping down them with the torch was perfect. It was more disturbing than anything else
I'm dying to see how Umbrella are involved in all this supernatural vampire and werewolf shit

EG wouldn’t have had any Youtube content during the pandemic if it wasn’t for all their Lady D videos. It was pretty embarrassingly tryhard stuff.

I played part way through 7 and the various demos of 8. Atmosphere was good, but something about being in 1st person draws me in too much. Condemned really shit me up.

Quick Q,
Have I made a mistake by selling the Founders treasures? Not looking for spoilers, just want to know if it affects the ending really - yes or no
The only thing I've held on to is the creepy-arse doll, as a trophy (and because I like it). I'm going to give it to Rose when we get home

Don't think there's any negative impact to selling stuff that's marked as treasure. (well, apart from losing out on loads of money if you don't combine stuff) There's only the one ending.

Thanks for that
Dukie made a remark after a sold one saying 'Are you sure you want to part with that? No, no, I'll buy anything' or something like that and it made me think it might have been important

Finished up RE8 last night I think the game peaked at the fight with Heisenberg. The Chris section felt a bit unnecessary - not sure what the point of that was. The ending was a serious downer as well Everything else about the game was proper good though. Heisenberg was way cooler than Dimitrescu. It might be one of the best looking games I've played too. Spent a lot of time just looking around, especially at some of the vistas. The variety in locations and gameplay styles were well done The game has plenty of atmosphere, tension, jumps and scares too. My idea of 'scary' is feeling like I don't want to play a game anymore and having to force myself through it, so basically terrifying. I gave up playing Silent Hill 2 at the apartments because it was too much. I was actually relieved to see daylight again after the doll house though I found it generally quite easy on normal. I had plenty of ammo most of the time up until the factory as I'd gone around beforehand and fought a couple of optional bosses which put a serious dent in my reserves. I did have a quick go on Hardcore and couldn't even survive the initial attack in the village, and there's a higher difficulty than that, so nothing to complain about There seemed to be a lot of nods to RE4 in this and possibly one to Bloodborne too, which was cool. There was a dead body on a rooftop somewhere with a red gem next to it that reminded me of where you find the brooch for the little girl in Yharnam. Might be a stretch though Mecenaries seemed decent. A bit like Raid Mode from Revelations with some roguelike elements It is a good game and I had fun playing it

I felt 8 was like a greatest hits of the Resi games. Including the weaker latter halves all the games suffer from.
But the highs it has are amazing, look forward to more from then.

I really enjoyed the factory (assuming that's included in the second half). Actually made me want to play Revelation 2 again
Something I forgot to mention was the enemy variety - definitely an improvement over the molded from 7
I'm guessing we're going to get to play as Chris next in 9. That's the only real reason I can think of for that section, to set him up for the next game
Was that suppose to be Wesker at the end?

Don't think so, just a regular agent for whatever organisation Chris works for if we're thinking of the same guy I'm assuming next game will be Rose rather than Chris. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the DLC if that ever arrives, though.

I thought that but seeing as she apparently has special powers, I'm not sure how that would fit into a standard RE game, and Chris was getting all angsty at the end, with seemingly a lot of emotional investment in the Ethan case. There was the line about the father's story being finished though. I don't know how Ethan is generally recieved, but I thought they might have axed him in order to bring back a more popular RE character. Chris is even on the cover for RE8

Never really thought much about Ethan as a character. Just came across as really unlucky.

Didn't realise if you load your completed save it goes into plus game and you keep all your weapons and upgrades. That helped quite a bit in surviving the attack in the village (and hiding under a house)

There probably are ways of fitting her into an RE9. Put a ‘limiter chip’ in her head and have unseen mission ops unlock them periodically or something.

Been putting some time into RE8 Mercenaries and it's good. Shame you can't buy ammo though. Haven't got anything above an A so far
