Fired it up this morning, lovely to be back in the world, so cosy and familiar. I didn't realise there were new missions, which was a nice surprise. Going to do those and hoover up the last few points of interest.

Struggling to maintain interest, which is surprising. Think I'm just not in the mood. Messed about for an hour over the weekend and can't really find the urge to go back to it. Think I burned myself out on my first playthrough.

I can't get back into the combat at all. Coming off the back of Elden Ring then God of War, even Ass Cred Valhalla, is tough. I'll not be spending long with it, just nice to dip back in.
Both DLCs have amazing stories though, so you need to do them at some point!

Yeah maybe because I'm farting around just doing contracts again. I'll try the first DLC and see if that hooks me. Probably what I need to do.
Deffo got RT off now until they fix it. Not just the performance now. Weird visual glitches all over the shop. Although mainly in Kaer Morhen, which is odd.

Fired it up last night after updating and just the difference in textures alone was clear to see in a field of sunflowers that I trotted past. The close camera is crap, I never like a really close camera as it feels like I'm playing on console and being forced up close to keep performance up, I want to see my surroundings as I trundle around. Shame the cutscenes are not ultrawide, but I do like all the purdy lighting At the moment I'm thinking it's running pretty much ok apart from some odd pop of shadows when it suddenly realises there should be one. Ultra everything but I've set dlss to quality. Out in the wilderness I'm getting around 80-90fps but as soon as I came to buildings and people it nearly halved so I had to put thedlss3 frame gen thing on. Comoleted a couple of missions and the old familiar sounds for quests and completions played. It's so memorable. I didn't like the new cameras either and I'm a console peasant

Took me a while to get back in the swing of the combat too after GOW. For me, the trick was remembering that this is very much a dodge roll game rather than a block or parry one, according to my play style anyway. Quen takes care of the odd hit

Not just the performance now. Weird visual glitches all over the shop. Although mainly in Kaer Morhen, which is odd. If you are burned out on contracts and stuff, Hearts of Stone is amazing. It's almost entirely story-driven and it's got some of the best set pieces of the game. Blood and Wine is more like a miniature version of the main game, and the story is nowhere as good as the first DLC imho. But if you can recover from burnout with Hearts of Stone, you might be better poised to jump onto the second DLC right afterwards.

Try and guess which one is DX12 (and which one runs worse). These are both medium settings and 720p. Tbf overall performance doesn't actually decrease much, but in some situations it's clearly much more CPU-bound, with stutters more evident. In order to get a fairly stable 60fps on my laptop, DX11 is still mandatory.

Still can't enable RT without the thing crashing :/ Hope CDPR are fed up of all the crash reports.

Ended up dialing my version back on GOG. Still looks stunning on Ultra, although it's still a litte jittery than I remember.

That might explain why I found the 30fps mode so rough. Part of me thought I was just getting spoiled by 60fps lately so I'm actually somewhat relieved; maybe I won't find it so jarring when the 30fps-only games start trickling through

Yeah it was the same with Cyberpunk’s next gen update, the 30fps mode simply wasn’t 30fps. I think it’s much better now, so we’ll hopefully see improvement to TW3 in coming months.

Yeah. I'm going to hold off for a bit I think. See if they can get it a bit more stable. 30fps doesn't bother me, but something just felt really off with it. Glad to see I wasn't imagining it.

They'll probably get round to it mid January because of holiday and that.

The 60fps mode looks and plays great on PS5.

Yep if you're a 60fps type, I'd say the game is ready to play as it is.
Just watched and commented on DF's video. It honestly took someone taking the effort to do side by side comparisons for me to even see the RT difference. And even then... interiors are darker, certain objects take on an orange hue... OK I get it, it's more accurate, and the way RT works at all is pretty impressive stuff but I ain't about to halve the framerate for that

Yeah, I'd rather have the 60fps over the ray tracing on the pc. It's more accurate lighting for sure, but I think it game looks pretty good anyway tbh, can't say the blue tones bother me.
The improvements aren't worth the performance hit.
I do really love the new sign system though, combat is a still a bit pants but it does flow better.

Ooh:
EDIT: Also listed at a bunch of other stores, all with a January 26 release date. It's looking pretty credible!

I've been very much enjoying Novigrad and cutting hapless street criminals to pieces. I'm not sure I remember it being this bloody, but there's bits of bad guys everywhere. Mwuahaha.

Just got to Skellige and I'm starting to wain a bit.
Went for the Triss romance this time. I know Yennifer is more canon to the novels but it's really striking me how much Yenn can use Geralt.
Does mean I missed out on the sex on stuffed unicorn though.
I could have romanced both and gone for the comedy romance ending but nah.
Did do Kiera though. Both she and Triss are in Kaer Mohren now so I like to imagine awkward conservations.

I seem to recall my Geralt doing all of them.
YOLO and all that.

I regret not doing that tbh, slightly awkward computer game sex scenes are the only action I'm getting any time soon.

I chose Triss last playthrough, so I went for canon Yenn this time and avoided Triss. Some of her looks at Geralt later made me feel like I'd upset a real ex. I did dally with Kiera (although she ended up on a different pole in the end), the Niflgaardian spy, Shani and... maybe someone else. I forget. Dangers of being easy, Geralt. Sad that drhickman1983 is falling off the wagon, though. Ahem.

I kinda felt no guilt really. They all happened before he and Yenn had cemented their relationship and she appears to be MIA in the expansions. 😁

They all happened before he and Yenn had cemented their relationship and she appears to be MIA in the expansions. 😁 I do like the early conversation with Yenn where he blames the romance with Triss in the earlier games on the amnesia he was suffering. I mean, he *was* suffering from amnesia but it still sounds like a lame excuse.
