I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who's more fussed about the games than the radio stations.
I've been playing through GTA:V again recently and I've turned the music off and been playing my own.

Unlike a lot of games the soundtrack is rather integral here, it was an inspired decision really. Openworld games can get rather boring if you've got to travel a lot.
Having the radio there as well meant you'd also be flicking through the channels hoping one of your favourites comes up. Having so many channels with music I hated made it better in a way, it became a meta-game of trying to find something agreeable whilst also trying to play the game itself. I hope Bowie's Somebody Up There Likes Me is still in at least.

Yeah, I get that - I did it myself the first times I played. But I've found on replay I want that less. Much less.

Considering it would take less than a week’s worth of GTA Online microtransactions to pay for all the rights Rockstar don’t have any excuse for not licensing the original soundtracks.

Some Vice City footage. I'm a bit mixed on it visually, but it confirms at least some of the original music made it in.

With 4 or 5 I can barely remember the soundtrack. It was just there in the background (Get Innocuous was on 4's soundtrack IIRC... That's about all I can remember)
With Vice City on the other hand the soundtrack was IMO an integral part of the city. Tempted, baseline, clear, kiss the dirt, I just died in your arms, cars... So many classics of the era!

For 4 and especially 5 it was the hosts not the music that really made it for me.
Vice City you gotta have the tunes

Gotta maximise that sweet shareholder value though. I bet once a label gets sniff it's Rockstar the price inflates rather quickly.

I'm a bit surprised at how plain and empty that gameplay footage looks. I feel like the trailer made the upgrade look a lot more impressive.

I like the visuals in that, but it still looks clunky and fiddly to control. I thought they were updating that too?

There's a Kotaku article saying it's been done by the same people who did the 2013 remasters and that people are worried because the quality of them was basically shit.
Looking at Tommy's arms at the start of that clip gives me hives. And it looks worse when he got in the car and started driving around.
It looks like what it is. A twenty year old game that's been given a little polish. Awful, tbh.
No way I'm paying £50+ for that.

H'mm does kinda look a bit crap, for a revamp, soundtrack or not I might be waiting for a good price drop.

I'll still check out SA this weekend to try the new controls for myself, but wow that really has killed my buzz.
I can see this dropping in price veeeery quickly.

That looks like minimal effort has been made. Rip-off.

Looks janky as fuck still. Disappointing. Would take a punt for £20 but not full price

And that Rockstar hunted down and took all these free mods offline in the last couple of months.

Agree that San Andreas looks the most impressive, and looks as though it's had the most attention applied. Perhaps it had the best assets to work from.

I'm struggling to make out the GTA V controls being implemented in 3 and Vice City.
