Save your money guys. Mine unlocked earlier (PSN indonesia) and they are pretty fucking dire. Buggy performance, particularly with the controls and the gunplay. Some character models look updated and some haven't so it looks weird in cutscenes. Only decent thing is the driving elements feel a bit smoother.

Fuck sake I've been really good and haven't pissed money away on a game for ages as well. Trust me to preorder this one.

It's fucking crazy because they could honestly just spend a bit of money in properly remaking this whole trilogy and the ROI would be ridiculous for YEARS to come.

The big issue with the PSN/Steam versions were the controls. These new versions are both uglier and are missing all the best tracks though.

I was interested due to the mention of 'updated' controls. That's bullshit. It's effectively made me so pissed off I pre ordered. It 'only' cost me £33 so I don't feel as badly gang raped by R* and Sony.

Feels like someone has made a mod of the original versions, that's still in its alpha phase.

The comments on the other site seem to have really drunk the kool aid on this one.

Shame, really. My interest was purely in VC for a nostalgia hit (maybe a little of 3 out of morbid curiosity as well), but as nit-picky as it sounds the missing tracks are a real bummer, as so many of my favorite memories heavily involve the soundtrack.
Looking like a real missed opportunity. And just yikes at that price.

Yep looking like a pass for me sadly. R* probably made more money from GTA online in the time it's taken me to type this than it would cost to have all those tracks included.

It sort of reminds me of a GTA cartoon, or if GTA V was “real” these are like the Thunderbirds/Team America version. The original games look like arse now and without completely remodelling everything to be current standard there isn’t much you can do other than smooth out some edges. Full remakes were never going to happen as that’s a big part in selling the HD Universe games over the 3D Universe (Liberty City got a radical makeover in 4 from 3, Los Santos in V from San Andreas, and Vice City is coming back in 6). It’s not on my buy radar but after being surprised how blocky and spaced out the worlds are this afternoon I’ve sort of come to like it a bit.

I can get past the visuals if the controls were better and it overall wasn't a buggy piece of shite.

I was on the fence but the reported bugs and soundtrack omissions make this an easy pass.
Disappointing.

I worked for R* for almost 8 years. Even worked on a couple of those games (vice & Andreas) albeit briefly. (GTA 4 put about 3 stone of 🍕 on me - since shaken off) Got some nice free merch though including the original soundtracks, coats, special editions etc and countless T-shirts. I haven't been able to play a R* game since I left (PTSD light) but I know they are hugely popular so I'm a bit saddened by how these versions appear to have turned out.

From what I recall from media reports, shit. Ridiculous hours and pressure in the run up to crunch time.

Probably needs its own thread... Genuinely affected.
The reports of how bad things became were, let's say, anecdote light.
It was awful.

Must have been ok for a while though? 8 years is a long time to stick that out.

It looks like the Love Fist track is also missing from VC, which is just bizarre.

The definitive edition is no longer buyable on the PSN store but you can wish list it, very strange.

It looks like the Love Fist track is also missing from VC, which is just bizarre. Rockstar must have sold the rights to make a quick buck and now the rights holder is asking for a billion dollar.

Is it a case of they couldn’t get the rights to those missing songs or they just couldn’t be bothered to cut into their profits….

There’s far too many missing for it to have not been possible, they just couldn’t be arsed to pay.

Is it a case of they couldn’t get the rights to those missing songs or they just couldn’t be bothered to cut into their profits…. It might be a bit of column A, bit of column B. But given the sheer number of culled tracks B seems to be a definite factor. There might be other considerations regarding the Michael Jackson tracks as he's viewed perhaps more critically these days.

There’s far too many missing for it to have not been possible, they just couldn’t be arsed to pay. When the whole reason for re-releasing these games is a cash grab it makes sense they keep their expenditure and investment in the actual product to a bare minimum. See also the fact that GTA Online/Five never received a PS4Pro/Xbox One X patch despite outrageous profits and a huge player base.
