What's the score with Spacey these days? Are we allowed to watch his films again because he was found not guilty? Is he still banned because everyone knows he did it really?

His 147 at the Crucible is OK, but anything at The Masters is still off limits

He's going past grudging respect phase, for me. You're a multi millionaire now. Just fucking stop and have respect for the other players. Even if you don't like the game and the governing bodies, it's a slap in the face to those that work so hard and barely make it past the first round.

He's a fucking wanker. If you don't want to play then fuck off. I know that he's a draw, but I won't miss him all that much. If he's on form it can be as boring as it is awe-inspiring. Watching him smash the shit out of everyone gets old pretty quickly doesn't make for an entertaining tournament IMO.

4-4 going into the evening session. Supporting Ding, but hoping for a close match. Starts 8:00 Monday here, good day to be 'WFH'.

I don't have the TV on when WFHing, but Snooker is the perfect thing to have on.
Ronnie isn't my favourite either, but my late Mom loved him so I feel honour-bound to support him

Either fuck off or stop whining.

Yeah he's just been too much now. If he'd have gone when he first said it and made some, not entirely unfair, criticisms of the way the game was going, then it'd be fine. He's in the position where he can turn up when he feels like it and actually enjoy it.
The thing is he'll be doing this into his fucking 50s and will have spent the better part of a decade being an absolute mard arse about it.
Used to like him, now he can just fuck off.

Don't know how anyone has ever been able to like him. Bloke is an absolute helmet.
The act is pathetically transparent. He's just trying to get double the credit for his achievements by pretending to act like he's not bothered and isn't even trying. "Oh what a complex, naturally gifted individual". Get fucked.

Eh, he's better than anyone else, he's an incredible perfectionist and hyper critical of himself.
Seems most people who have a bone with him just read the headlines and don't bother to watch him play.

He is undoubtedly the greatest player we've ever had and are likely to see in our lifetimes. Just ignore him when he's not playing and it's all good. I think we tend to hold him in higher regard than the current generation because most of us of a certain age have watched his entire career.
Did enjoy the the look back at the Higgins/Davies match. You forget how good Higgins was.

He can be a mardy twat at times but he's also had traumatic upbringing and really struggled with his mental health (and still does).

Watched his entire career, have thought he's a prick for pretty much all of it.
There are plenty of sports people out there with demons who manage to treat their chosen discipline with a bit of respect and dignity. He gets away with it purely on the basis of being better than everyone most of the time.

I’ve been on an Alex Higgins YouTube a thon recently. He was my favourite player (I hated Davies).
He really was an incredible player when he was on form and just slightly drunk (instead of the usual steaming drunk), pity his demons and his lack of training (due to partying all the time) held him back. He still won a shed load of tournaments and beat everybody at some point including a great match against a young Stephen hendry.
Watch some of his matches and you remember why snooker was the second biggest sport of the 80s

I've never thought Ronnie is critical of snooker the sport that much, more the governing body itself and the management surrounding it. I'd argue there's not many sports people at Ronnie's level in their chosen sport who've had to deal with the shit he's had to growing up either.
Edit - nevermind, piss poor argument on my part.

O'Sullivan vs Hawkins is proving to be a stinker as well. I don't think I've seen players make as many comical mistakes as in this tournament.
