Wonder what happened to the guy who ran Team Bondi, Brendan McNamara. Wasn't he a bit of a psycho?
He worked on The Getaway too which was another pseudo sandbox disappointment.
Wouldn't mind Sony taking another crack at The Getaway, doesn't look like Rockstar are going back to London so it's a market they could have all to themselves.

I really enjoyed both Getaway games, would have liked the series to continue. Had some good features. As for games that do not have own thread (at least I don't think it does) Dead Island 2 has gone gold, so no more delays and it is coming a week early. I am defo interested in this, but will wait for several reviews and ideally word of mouth ones from people on here for example. I have barely touched DL2 and never played Riptide, but monkey see, monkey wants!

Wild Hearts actually looks pretty good: I might pick it up if Capcom don't get around to releasing Monster Hunter Rise in physical form on PS5.
Full cross-play and large explorable maps is tempting me...

The fact it's NOT made by Techland is actually kind of encouraging given what became of Dying Light. I genuinely am quite shocked that this game has gone gold and it's actually coming out. I was so convinced (as many others were I'm sure) that it was vaporware.

Heads up for the PC crowd (the rest of you can look away in disgust), just started playing Slice and Dice, available on itch.io for around 8 bucks. Very early stages here, but it looks like it might be a real hidden gem. It's a roguelike card battler, but with dice and heroes. Each hero has a die, and you roll your dice (two rerolls to start, more can be selected as rewards) and try and counteract the enemy actions, which you can see before they move. You need to try and balance offence and defence. For example here, from top to bottom I've rolled one mana, one damage (with an additional one damage because of a modifier), 1 health with an x3 modifier, and 2 shield. I can choose the dice that suit and have three rerolls in this scenario. To no avail, as the enemies on the right hand side are about to fuck me up. You upgrade both your dice and heroes and get items after every battle. Here I'm able to upgrade my Fighter to a Whirl(??) or a Gladiator, and you can see their dice faces, including blank faces: I've only played an hour or so and the depth is a bit overwhelming. There seems to be a ton of characters and then a bazillion modifiers and synergies. It might actually be a bit above my pay grade as I am struggling. I have only reached level 13 out of 20 on Easy mode so far. But I would encourage people to check it out if it sounds appealing at all.

8/10 ratings across the board for Wild Hearts, courtesy of GameSpot, IGN, and Push Square.

Anyone tried Cities skylines remastered? If you have the original it won't update(like I was waiting for) you have to download the new version from the store.
Will be free if you already own the original.
Hoping I can get back into this one day.

Atomic Heart reviews are in, and the verdict is... mixed.
6/10 from both Push Square and GameSpot, and a "Do not recommend" from Skill Up; also an 8/10 from IGN, but I usually find that they're too generous in any case.

The cardinal sin of masses of spawning enemies with spongy health is a massive turn off me already.

Typical Gamepass fodder then - can't complain with how cheap GP is but I'm starting to equate "Day 1 on Gamepass" with "that'll be a 6 or 7 out of ten then".

The whole Soviet Jetsons Bioshock vibe is right up my alley. Looks cool and seeing as it’s on GP might as well give it a go.

Wonder what happened to the guy who ran Team Bondi, Brendan McNamara. Wasn't he a bit of a psycho? At a developer called Video Games Deluxe who created the VR version of L.A. Noire. Last news (2020) was that they were working on a "AAA open world title" for Rockstar.

ACG recommended an immediate buy and I find him most reliable. Plus his reasons he gives for that sound my kind of thing. No idea when I'll play it though as currently on botw then Hogwarts then wo long.

Started it this morning, played 90 minutes or so, and... there are technical issues. Kinda hard to gloss over, too. For one, Vsync doesn't work. I don't even mean it's borked, I mean the option is outright greyed out in the menu. There is an FPS cap, but it still causes evident and prominent tearing almost all the time. Field of view is waaaay too low. I mean original Metro 2033 low. I was wondering why, then I realized the game is not true widescreen. Playing in a widescreen resolution merely crops the image over playing in 4:3. And playing in ultrawide crops it further. In fact, even the menus are cut down, so playing in ultrawide means you can't even see certain parts of the UI when using the upgrade screen. I thought it was weird that the game didn't tell me how many polymers I had left. It doesn't seem to like GPU scaling, so the picture will fill the screen no matter the resolution. So that's a pretty big problem too. Anyway, what I've managed to play was somewhat underwhelming. Slow intro, slow combat, lots of rifling through cabinets. I do like being able to quickly empty every cabinet in a room by holding the search button. Music was good too. And it's not heavy on the system. But so far it seems too much like a Bioshock clone. And the story seems fairly generic too, there's no indication it's going to turn cyberpunk, though I'm sure it will at some point (I refuse to think a Bioshock clone would just believe its own utopistic ideas). I'll try and play a little more, I found a way to stick to basic widescreen. See if it goes anywhere good.

Played a bit more. It didn't seem like it was going anywhere interesting. The main character is really grating, and the color palette as drab as they come. Between that and the generally boring combat, I elected to just uninstall it.

I saw some gameplay and I cringed at some of the writing, the lead character just kept swearing at EVERYTHING and seemed mostly like an unpleasant person.

Yeah, one of the main complaints so far. But it apparently runs well on PC for once, so that's a nice surprise. Another surprise is that there is no Raytracing.
From the footage I have seen so far the combat really doesn't look that impactful, though I didn't get a good impression of the combat sound/s.
Another thing to get in a year or so.

I rate quite highly ACG's reviews. He can point out flaws in games but generally his scores seems to be based on how much fun he had at the end of the day. Atomic Heart surprised him a lot throughout his playthrough, so I am excited to give it a try.
SkillUp reviews I don't rate at all. Something about him that just bugs me, he gets hung up on the smallest things sometimes and is too critical for the sake of it.

It does run okay... aside from the issues I mentioned. Not sure how one can release a game without proper ultrawide support in this day and age. And I guess they greyed out vsync because it doesn't work? Releasing a game with no vsync support at launch is kind of not a good outlook.

richyroo : Well, Skill Up usually ends up with pretty strong opinions and he doesn't mind telling everyone about it. ACG on the other hand does focus on looking at the various elements in detail, but he somehow always manages to come across as neutral or positive about pretty much everything. I don't really understand how he manages it. Skill Up is pretty interesting. I think the thing with his reviews is that he often formulates a strong recommendation for or against that has absolutely no detail to it itself, but then he also talks about the game at length and he doesn't always manage to be convincing enough. And that can end up feeling contradictory. Like a long review that has a numerical rating at the end that doesn't seem to fit the text. Even if it's "positive rhetorics" and "8/10" for example. It's still two different ways to express what you thought about it. malek86 : The Game Star-reviewer hadn't finished yet, but he said that he forced on Vsync through... I think he said Nvidia Control Panel.

The 2 day early release of Blood Bowl 3 appears to be going as well as one might expect. The game apparently crashes out in the middle of matches pretty regularly. Yucky.

I'm a PC player, and it looks like this is console only, and having just watched a quick video on it, looks like it has incorporated some neat extra tools and functions that you can get through workshop mods on PC (it did make me chuckle how excited people were getting about having access to 25 tiles). Makes me wonder if this will come to PC at all, if for example it improves general performance and graphics, or if this is just for next gen consoles. It might be a harder sell there where I imagine so many mods would need to be remade before it appeals to long term players. Super neat they're providing this version though!

You couldn't make this up. In my defence, my reservations about not getting it were built purely upon speculation from certain corners of the internet and I couldn't conclusively find any real reason not to keep my pre-order as I had the cash earmarked for it anyway. I have been keen on this since the very first snippet of gameplay and I think I knew it was always going to be an average 7/10 experience in terms of reviews, but one that I'll enjoy. I don't normally stop by the old place these days but I was quite interested in this article, and I think I agree with it: www.eurogamer.net/in-praise-of-the-710

I quite liked it. In this day of hyperbole where people ignore or slag off everything that's not the best game ever made, it's refreshing to read somehting that says "actually, these games can still be worth your time". It's what I've always said. I don't agree wholesale with the article and the last paragraph is fucking stupid, but I agree with the sentiment.
Most of my favourite games have had pretty lukewarm receptions. So maybe I'm a tryhard. Don't really give a shit though. If I like it, I like it.
