Darkstalkers I'm guessing. Would be awesome if that got a new entry.

My backlog is full of dry tactics/strategy/simulator games and I was pretty shocked when I couldn't find anything action-y to break the monotony a few weeks back, so I picked up these palate cleansers:
I did play the two shooters on release back in the day but they should be a good antidote to my middle-aged-gamer tendencies when needed.
Steam Deck for 10% off too I have never had a use case for mobile gaming but have been trying to come up with one ever since it was announced.

Honestly, just playing PC games not at a desk should be enough of a use case. You don't need to have a regular commute to get use out of it. Plus, portable indie games at Steam prices instead of Nintendo prices is a big incentive, even if you also own a Switch.

It's also a really surprisingly good secondary computer if you have a multi-monitor setup but are sick of all the weirdness that happens when you try and play a game and do anything else at the same time.

Trying to decide what to throw out of the shopping cart. Having looked through the list recently I have a better awareness again of what all of these are and how much I want them. That has resulted in way more games than "necessary" and I.....
(Three hours later)
.....eventually rearranged things a bit and still ended up at 15 games, which isn't too bad at about 3 € apiece. Some really cheap ones in there, but Adaca (Half Life/Stalker-esque) was still relatively high, and there were two more at about 7 € each.
I guess I'll be playing some of those shorter games soon. I have been picking up way too many recently and my steam section for them has pretty much exploded.

Not even the steam deck has got me back into throwing money at steam sales, only took about 15 years.

Eh, I'm still pretty stingy. Outside of the occasional indulgence like Cyberpunk 2077 or so.

I’ve picked up ONE game. For two quid. Undertale, it seems wonderful so far.

That, Thimbleweed Park and Jedi Fallen Order are in my basket. I think that'll do me for a while.

It barely seems like yesterday, but to celebrate 3 years since its release, Shadow Gangs is 40% off. For a week. The cheapest it's ever been...

Not sure how long it is running for, but Battle.net had a sale over Easter. Used it as an opportunity to pick up Diablo 2 Resurrection and Diablo 3 + expansions for £16.50, ahead of Diablo 4 in a few months. I already own it, but there is also a rare sale on the new CoD.

Yeah, Diablo 2 Resurrected has been tempting me, but I'll wait a little longer. I want it, even if just for nostalgia's (i.e. music and atmosphere) sake. Perhaps I'll give Median XL a try one of these days.

For the second month in a row I forgot to pause Humble Choice so if anyone wants keys for Death Stranding, Aliens Fireteam or Life is Strange season 2 then hit me up.

Steam is running a sports game sale at the moment. Looks like quite a big discount on that EA foot-to-ball game that all the kids talk about.
There was some chatter in the PSVR2 thread about Walkabout Golf that is also part of the sale (not sure if it is just a continuation of a launch discount, but it is listed on the sales page). DLC isn't discounted, unfortunately. I also picked up Rugby 22, which looks to have quite positive reviews. Will be interesting to see how they translate rugby to a video game.
After the recent snooker tournament, I had been hoping to pick up a snooker/pool game, but doesn't look like any decent ones are part of this sale.

Huh, so Steam are offering a 90 minute trial of the new Dead Space game
So it's a 'Trial' versus a demo, looks like you get 90 mins of time and then it locks up.
On another note, all three original Dead Spaces are on sale for a tenner or less:
I played through 1 a couple of years ago and never bothered with 3 after not loving 2, but I'm tempted.

I'm tempted by Cricket '22 but I played the first couple of games in the series for hundreds of hours and never, I mean never, got a slip catch off my bowling. Whether this means I was really bad, or whether it was an issue with the game remains undetermined, I could never get a satisfactory answer online as to whether it was an issue with me or the game.
Like, I just wouldn't bother setting slips after a while. So that would annoy me if it was still the case.
A commenter in Tim Stone's column last week recommended Virtual Pool 4 as the pinnacle of the genre, but as you say, it's not on sale.

Sounds like 22 is the best of them, although whether that is actually saying much is another matter. Added it to my wish list though, so I might give it a go in another sale I was hearing good things about Cue Club 2. Can't see much comparing the two though. Also will likely pick up Sports Bar VR at some point, for some VR pool. Mainly sold on it by the video of Ronnie O'Sullivan playing it and trying to lean on the table before falling flat on his face.

I think the missions and the world are just a bit shallow, which is a problem with Privateer type games, for me at least.
It looks pretty (for a non AAA game) and has colorful space stations. Nothing is all that deep and the space stations you visit start to feel a bit samey, although they do have pool and other bar games to play.
I still have it installed as I keep meaning to give it a bit more time, but never quite get around to it.
If you can grab it dirt cheap in a sale or bundle then it's worth a shot, but I'm not sure I'd recommend spending too much on it.
It's not bad at all, it's just missing something compelling imho.

Walkabout Mini Golf is fantastic. If you have VR, I highly recommend it. I don't know other people with VR, but you should probably consider this pretty much essential if you do. It's a pity sharing VR is inconvenient, as it would make a great party game.
Rugby 22 seems enjoyable too, although I'm not great at it. Was starting to get the hang of it a bit more in the second game, but still a few areas I didn't fully grasp (think I lost all lineouts, as well as angling penalty/conversion kicks). Presentation wasn't quite up to the standards of an EA sports game and graphically it isn't great, but perfectly fine.
