Jesus wept. No matter how bad things get in the UK at least we're not America. Yet. Don't worry people are working hard to bring the same Gilead bullshit here too. It's a daily assault, Dorries was equating Sunak's resignation to a coup against Johnson earlier, and of course there's Truss/someone diluting the Women's rights statement to get rid of bodily autonomy

Man who looks like a thumb and paid for sex with a minor says that women who look like a thumb don't have to worry about getting pregnant and needing an abortion. I suppose you don't have to worry about pregnancy when you're shagging someone that's not hit puberty yet

GOP and associated nuts going mad this morning because Conservative leaning Kansas has voted against abortion prohibition following the Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade ruling.
Odd, that they were only recently trumpeting how good it was that this ruling would allow individual states to choose, rather than being federally mandated.
But now a state has chosen, they're angry about it.
Almost as if it was always really about controlling women... 🤔

I mean fucking hell. He did quite well for someone who's just been told his lawyer fucked up big time and then didn't bother to do anything about it when the prosecution lawyer gave him the chance. Jones's lawyer is impressively poker faced at that point too. I'm surprised the judge didn't piss herself laughing.

I'm becoming quite convinced that his lawyer is failing to represent him properly.
And I don't think it's the fault of the lawyer, at all.

The Jan 6th committee has subpoenaed Jones' texts. Which is hilarious, because it may contain messages that weren't turned over by people who were ordered to turn over their text messages for the hearings. It might be the last domino to fall that will sink the scumbags.

I think Alex Jones's lawyer has done the American people a huge favour for either being incompetent or deliberately sending out information that they shouldn't have.
Obviously I'm no lawyer, I don't even play one in TV, but surely there's rules about accidental disclosure of information that would have prevented its use?
It's funny though and couldn't have happened to a nicer defendant.

Wasn't one of the points tho that much of it should have been shared already and they were denying existence of the material?

but surely there's rules about accidental disclosure of information that would have prevented its use? as I understand it - and I watched almost all of Ally McBeal, so I'm basically an expert - plaintiff's lawyers informed defendants lawyers* giving them the opportunity to mark anything as privileged, defendants lawyers did nothing so here we are
* I'm guessing the language used was not "by the way, you done fucked up, here let me help you correct your mistake", but something like "we acknowledge receipt of X,Y, and Z"

I believe that if it were possible to retract this evidence, the Jan 6th people wouldn't be reaching for it, and it wouldn't have been admissible in this Sandy Hook case. I like to think it's deliberate, and the reason for them doing that is for the Jan 6th shit that could be in it. His lawyers watching with interest as the prosecutor dropped that on him was a bit too relaxed considering they'd potentially ended their careers. But I'm clutching at straws a little. Hopefully it's a bombshell of seditious conspiracy featuring all our favourite players, but probably not. If it is, it's mysterious suicide time.

hearing going on now with defence trying to claw back the phone evidence, and to my expert reading (I've also watched a bit of that one with Megan Markle in it) has failed

Accidental disclosure and discovery isn’t the same in a civil trial as a legal one. If this were a legal one then Jones would have cause for dismissal. But it’s not, and his attorneys were aware of the breach anyway and chose to do nothing, so there’s literally nothing he can do about it.
