Sounds like it will only be available through GP and free to digital owners of RR as they aren't allowed to actually sell the game.
They can't give it away to disc owners die to some tech issues.

Kinda annoyed that it's not up to pre-install. Bet it only comes available about 8pm tomorrow night or some daft shit.
(Complaining about it as if they didn't just shadow-drop an entire full game on us last night)

I've seen in the Switch trailer that, while the game seems to be a decent 30fps, performance in 4-players mode still doesn't look so hot, so I guess there's some limit to emulation. Maybe Rare capped the framerate in multiplayer (knowing it would never get above 15-20fps anyway) and so the emulator can't go past that either.
Well, I wonder how it works on Xbox. Tomorrow we'll see.

All in all, we're all going to be disapointed. There's no achievements either, right? Not sure. If it's DLC for Rare Replay, they could technically add achievements to that game instead. It already has enough for 4000G... but then again, I'm not actually sure if it will be DLC or a standalone download that merely checks if you have Rare Replay on the account. And well, I'm not going to be disappointed, because I'm not expecting anything. In fact, I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's any fun. I didn't like Perfect Dark enough to go past the fourth or fifth mission. |

I found the game via the recently added section in Gamepass in the store to download my copy.
And now I'm looking at the title screen. That theme still hits hard.

Looks like it's Game Pass only indeed. There is no option to buy it.
I have the digital copy of Rare Replay, and it's been automatically added to my account. It's not DLC. Guess that explains why they couldn't give it to disc owners.

A few things:
Despite being labeled as Series X|S, the game can be played from external storage. Also looks to me like it's 1080p, at least on my Series S. Maybe it's actually an Xbox One game in disguise. Perhaps it's 4K on One X and Series X?
Performance is weird. It's definitely not 60fps, but it's not just that, even the 30fps feels somewhat... unstable? Like I think either the frame pacing is completely off, or the game is dropping frames even during fairly simple sections. Between that and the wobbly camera, it doesn't feel so good, frankly.
The new controls help a bit though. May end up playing some, next week.

Series S isn’t 64-bit! 😱
Seems to run fine on Series X. Just did a quick playthrough of the Dam stage before I head to bed. Just as good as I remember. I think this game is to me what Doom is the PC players. Just an all-time classic.
Pleased it’s a standalone download rather than an add-on for Rare Replay. Means I don’t need to redownload that to play this, though I just might anyway in order to replay Conker.

Switch version looks nice. 30fps dropping to 16fps sometimes. 16fps in multiplayer apparently.
Video also has some pointers for changing the controls to be more modern
I don't have the Online Expansion Pass, so I think it's a moot point though for me.

If I could do that, then I'd rather see Turok Rage Wars. It ran a bit better and the shooting felt slightly more PC-like.

@bill if you have the option of playing it on Xbox, you don’t need to fiddle with the control scheme as it’s already mapped like a modern shooter.

Just played the first level, just as good as I remember and the graphics are surprisingly sharp considering it's "just" an emulation not a remaster.
I did think it was slightly choppy on Series X mind. Didn't seem like it was struggling with what was happening on screen, just an overall slight stutteriness. I could hear it in the music too. Hopefully it's something they can patch.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Xbox version default to one of the dual controller configs. I think I'd rather play Perfect Dark or Timesplitters 2 for that kind of shooting though.
