In 1997, I thought this destroyed all other black metal. In 2021, I think it still kind of does. Audio quality is pretty bad on Youtube though.

Been listening to a bit of Porcupine’s Stupid Dream. Not bad, in hindsight it feels like a precursor to the brilliant Fear of a blank Planet. Some good stuff on it but not the complete package Fear was. Not just because it name checks it, but the latter half of the album has a few nods to it as well, but also been listening to The Bends. I already liked the album thought it’s been a decade or so since I last listened to it, but I’ve grown a new appreciation for it. Some absolute bangers on there but also a reflection on how…almost secretly influential it’s been.

Rock? Metal? Punk? I dunno, but I love it. I'm not religious, but this entire album is like one long blood & thunder old-testament sermon, and it's amazing. It has Relationship of Command vibes. Will check it out

So because the canal was all shitted up yesterday, I went for an afternoon walk instead of a ride. Decided that I'm going to use the hours as an excuse to go through a bunch of my 00's emo CD's that I haven't listened to in over a decade at least, and maybe re-buy some on vinyl where possible. I remembered most of this album, decent, but not decent enough for me to shell out the price it commends. But this track.... proper gives me the feels.

They're both exceptionally good albums anyway. Are you ok robthehermit

^ Isn't that weird? In your teens and twenties, you listen to music all day every day. When you hit your thirties, you spend days, weeks, months without listening to music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kslO4XQ-6ks

As one of the commenters beneath the video says “this sounds like a Rolling Stone editor’s genie wish”

It used to really bother me, but I've learned to just go with it. Revisiting a classic post-rock LP on the way to work this morning:

Swervedriver - Mezcal Head Absolutely love this record. Their two most recent are pretty decent as well.
