I don’t recall there being any limit to what you could climb in the first game or how long you could spend out at night. There wasn't a limit, but there were the mental superfast zombies that ripped you a new one. It was basically sprint for light/uv to begin with, then you got stronger/faster & got shit to deal with them a bit and it was ok.

Pretty sure there was a climbing limit in the first one. You had a really shit stamina bar. I only just unlocked unlimited stamina near the end of The Following and up until then, it was never amazing but a lot better than early game.

I have almost no time to play this before Sifu on Tuesday, which I want to play before Horizon. Yet I'm still on the verge of buying it now. So obviously I did do this. Just got through the intro and into the first city area. Liking it a lot so far, feels like the first game. Hopefully I won't get any hard bugs. Looking forward to playing more (and I'm going to try to steal some time into it over the weekend).

To be fair, I had been planning on picking it up now. It was only last night when I actually sat and thought about how much I could play before Sifu, then Horizon, then Elden Ring, that I realised that I wouldn't be able to play it through, but it won't have dropped in price by the time I do make the time for it and I'll try to put some hours inbetween everything else. I liked the first game a lot so I wasn't going to be skipping this one.

Aye me too tbh. I think I'd always intended picking it up but had managed to talk myself out of it due to it's proximity to Elden Ring. Really looking forward to having a go later.

IGN review was saying unless you've got a massive tolerance for bugs to avoid day 1. Loads of falling through the ground bugs shown.

Yeh. ACG saying similar. Think I'll leave it for time being. See what Wunty thinks later.

They fixed it all in a day one patch….
Have had zero bugs.

I agree with Worlds: no bugs for me - well, actually, I did see one zombie emerge through the ground rather than just get up from it, but otherwise it's been very smooth. Maybe once I'm properly roaming in the city things will change? (Just arrived after the lengthy tutorial) What folk have been saying about the Batman vision is true - it's an annoyance having to click down hard on the stick so frequently. Minor quibble but irritating nonetheless.

A few negative comments regarding the death timer thingy at night. 🤔

I like it. Its... Well, its dying light. Its a direct continuation from dead island, to riptide to dying light to this. Its more of that. If you liked that, you'll like this. I like it. The infection timer is a nice touch.

Only an hour in but I'm digging it. Counter timing is taking a while to click, but I'm sure it'll be second nature soon.
Got a chuckle out of the record in the house... I GOT THE REFERENCE!!!

who do you voodoo bitch! I've reached the point where I'm let off the leash and can explore. I bloody love it. Really like the aesthetic as well. Almost medieval.

I've jumped into this tonight and have also just got to the bit where I'm off the leash and free to explore. I've never played the original, but this seems lots of fun. I imagine I haven't seen the half of what you can do yet, either. It's quite realistic/pretty with all the raytracing stuff on (on PC). The dark bits are properly pitch black unless you have your torch on.

Gotta admit, graphics are quite poor in places.
Is it 1080 or something on PS5? Looks pretty average on my LG CX.
As in, no better than a mid-gen PS4 game.

Depends on the mode. Performance is 1080p with locked 60fps, resolution is 1800p at 30fps, quality mode is 1080p with locked 30fps, but all the RT, physics and texture gubbins.

It seems that all modes are on pc high settings it's just the resolution that is different bar the the RT shadows and AO on quality mode.

Tbf the 1080 resolution isn't that bad

Yeah, performance mode looks absolutely fine to me. I've just come from playing Arceus, which is supposedly 1080p too but is a world apart in IQ.
Anybody find the graphics appallingly bad in the flashback sequence, though? Whatever filter they used made it look shit, and the flame effects were a load of arse.

Yeah the flashback scenes look somewhat like an upscaled 360 game. It's baffling. Enjoying the game though.

Ha the flashback scenes look horrendous. Apart from that I'm playing on quality mode as I love the shadows and it looks decent enough. You can tell it should have really come out a few years ago though.
I spent all yesterday evening with it though and really enjoying it. The thing about this game and the previous one is that it's basically condemned + mirrors edge + zombies = everything I want in a game.

Erm, you’ve got to use performance mode on PS5, especially on an LG OLED. There’s no way I can put up with 30fps now, it’s disgusting.
So, 1080 on a massive 55” OLED really doesn’t look fantastic. Not awful, no, but in many scenes it’s grainy and no better than a PS4 game.
I’ve just been looking at comments around the web and loads of people are complaining about the 1080p.
Is it actually 1080?! Can not believe that’s what we have on a PS5 game.

You sure seem to be getting riled up over a video game with zombies in it... Chill out and just enjoy the damn thing or move on to something else.

The resolution etc was well documented before release with videos and everything..... but you bought it anyway 🤔

Agree the game looks absolutely fine bar the flashbacks (which for some reason remind me of Second Sight).
Bloody loving this.

Yeah, I think the performance mode looks surprisingly decent and clear considering the resolution.
I’m not normally one who cares about 30fps vs 60fps, just give me the shiniest possible grafix please. But the insane amount of motion blur on both of the 30fps modes hurts my brain.
