The problem with dropping Akuma at this point is you’re committing the game to be nothing but mirror matches for a fucking eternity. If you thought the Ken Fighter 6 era was bad, this is going to be ridiculous. Akuma is the character that was and is going to make me come back and this is the thought that slowly dawned on me. |

Akuma released on 22nd May. ALSO...the big balance patch for every character is released with Akuma.

It’s also the date for the third costumes for the dlc characters I think.
Akuma looks rad as hell. His level 3 is literally just punching you very hard in the face. I love it.
Interested for the balance patch too. Thus far Capcom have done very well (even the mini patch showed a good awareness of fixing some issues) so let’s hope they continue their run.

As well as Akuma, Capcom have half-announced the Capcom Pro Tour 2024. There’s going to be one premier a month, starting at Evo in Vegas until December. Then the actual Capcom Cup 11 will be in Japan, in a sumo arena of all things. Given the overall level of Japanese play, the LCQ is going to be even more of a bloodbath. Most pertinently for most people here, the last premier of the tour is actually in the uk and it’s a new event - “Kings of the World”:  Undoubtedly it will be filled with many of the best players in the world trying to get a guaranteed place at Capcom Cup, so should be an absolute banger. I might go along just to watch! |

They need to at least unlock all the alt costumes you can earn in world tour. That mode is so fucking boring

Also there are a lot of previews up with other footage from your regular fighting game streamers (Max, JWong, etc). He is looking brilliant. But ask me how I feel a month after release when I am constantly fighting him in Ranked/BHub haha

I’m probably going to end up eating my words here, but so far the new patch seems to be very thoughtful and well executed. Honda is a case in point; they are nerfing things which make him unga and buffing moves which help more considered play. The SF team are really showing the other devs how it’s done.
Edit: I’m aware the above post makes me sound like a fanboy, but I suppose I am really; compared to the state of Tekken and MK, SF iis in a good place.

The changes seem sensible. The roster of characters I play to a mediocre level seem either untouched or have got a few things to up their game.
Hoping other stuff drops with it, tho. ‘DR On Wake-up‘ doesn’t feel like it’s a very groundbreaking system change for a new season.

Outfit 3 for the DLC characters revealed; Ed has his nazi uniform back!
Not loving Rashid’s rubber gloves, but AKI and Akuma are great. The Akuma one especially looks extremely cool IMO. Christ I’m going to find it hard to resist using him.

He does take a bunch of damage, so using him against the big bodies will be even scarier than normal. But he is so fucking cool.
