Would it have killed them to include a menu to start fights? Really not a fan of the hub so far, but I seem to be in a minority here. After my joke about hoping it has a control scheme that allows 1 button supers, I didn't expect it to be the default! Core gameplay seems pretty goooood though. Need to give it a proper run in today. YOU DON'T DESERVE IT!!!!!!!

You can play Magic Sword on the arcades today. Magic Sword!
I'm not a big fan of the battle Hub stuff but I guess it's for the sake of testing. You can just sit in training while you wait though, turn on the AI for the dummy and you can fight that too

Just discovered my mayflash f500v2 fightstick works with the Series X and PS5. For some reason I thought it only worked on PlayStation with the mayflash adaptor, but no it works on the series X (with a controller connected to it).
Just an uninteresting heads up if anyone was in the market for a stick that works on both.

Beta is over then! Any thoughts? For me: what an incredible experience. Except for some (not unexpected) server issues on Friday and a few disconnects here and there, everything felt so solid. The game itself is just fantastic; it is extremely enjoyable to play and once you understand the new systems it can be incredibly intense. Drive Impact in particular makes being in the corner an extremely sweaty experience. But also SO SATISFYING when you counter a DI with another DI - or do a perfect parry. I'd echo what a lot of people say in that it feels so "complete". The wraparound stuff is excellent too. The Battle Hub is surprisingly good; I thought it was going to be just a crappy way to get into the matchmaking playlists, but sometimes it actually felt like being in an arcade - going round seeing which machines are free, or just walking up and challenging players. I do wish they would open up more ways to spend time while in Ranked queue, as right now it seems you just have to wait around in the hub idling; but I'm sure that will change in the actual release. Anyway, what a brilliant product. I can't wait until the physical release - I'm even considering taking a day off! But for now I just have to contend myself with listening to this on repeat: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rie_1u6Ple8(Also just to say that I didn't actually like this theme that much originally but when you're in a match it's fucking excellent)

Really glad you enjoyed it. So made up for you. Really. I'm definitely not going to call you a cunt for getting into the beta and I didn't. Definitely not. Really.

Reading this thread and really considering picking up a fight stick now, even though I'm shit at these games. Quite tempted by the 8bitdo stick that seems to work on PC and Switch. Anyone have experience of it?

If anything, be assured that the game is very very good. I'm not sure I've seen a single negative opinion of the whole package within the FGC, which is pretty rare!

I've overdosed on vids of the beta over the weekend. Like you say, everyone appears to love it.

Didnt get in but it looked good. Kimberly in particular looked absolutely insane with pro's getting caught out with some horrible high/lows.
Im also looking forward to that initial few weeks when its just non-stop clashing drive impacts.

What was the deal with her ultra (I think) that activated her headphones, was that just cosmetic or was it a buff for the next round?

Had a glance and actually saw Amazon had the Qanba Drone for just £27 (international seller, but order handled by Amazon). Seems to be fairly equivalent to the 8bitdo one, so for that price worth giving it a go.

To add to my last post. Grabbed some sanwa parts from Arcade world for £40. Another modded stick for under £70. Can't complain.

Agree with a lot of that Onny, even down to not being all that keen on some themes initially but really enjoying them as you're fighting
Was fun all around. It feels a lot like a mix of some of the good bits from previous SF's Just wish I was better at the damn thing, I wasn't this bad at Street Fighter before!

Watching the beta gameplay of this has been very satisfying, it appears way, way, way more varied that SF5 in moveset and options and there were only 6 players available here.

kotaku.com/street-fighter-6-closed-beta-characters-drive-impact-1849638305High profile players in hating tool that helps newer players shocker. Obviously I haven't played the game but like Nick said earlier it's obvious that drive impact will be used by everyone at the beginning until people get good at cancelling it's use, especially as repeated jabs break it as do throws.

Having not really played SFV, drive impact reminds me of the focus attack from SFIV (mp + mk)how do the 2 differ?

Having not really played SFV, drive impact reminds me of the focus attack from SFIV (mp + mk)how do the 2 differ? It has way more armour than a focus attack, costs about 1 bar of drive gauge and it can be used defensively and offensively. It's op but I don't see anything wrong with that as there seems to be a ton of other stuff that's op. It's appears more that it's pros who are having to break away from legacy moves and mix up things and don't like that. I mean MvC2 was broken as fuck but it was ridiculously entertaining game flash forward to SFV which was just boring to watch and play because it became so predictable anything that allows for a more exciting game and give new people a step up I'm all for it.

It also looks to be an actual universal mechanic whereas focus attack gave some characters access to some proper bullshit and gave others absolutely nothing.

Exactly, plus we've only see 6 characters and so far characters like Kimberly seem ridiculous. I mean people will always complain about something but be totally fine with the projectile zoning of every NRS game.

It has way more armour than a focus attack, costs about 1 bar of drive gauge and it can be used defensively and offensively. It only has 2 “points” of armour FYI. The other key thing about DI is that if you land one on a cornered opponent then it’s unblockable; you get a wallsplat leading to a combo or CA of your choice. But it can be countered in a few ways (such as doing your own DI, throwing, or parrying it). If your opponent is exhausted it’s even worse - you can’t do DI or parries, and if it lands not only is it unblockable but they get dizzied. This means being in the corner has you _constantly_ looking out for it, which is why it’s so terrifying. (Doing a DI on a cornered exhausted opponent is the only way in SF6 to get a dizzy state) That Kotaku article is somewhat misleading (surprise) as I’ve seen a lot of pro players also talk about how DI will lead to better footsies; anything which isn’t a true block string can now be blown up. And then some others are taking the more pragmatic approach of “yes this seems strong but let’s wait and see”.

P.S doing a counter DI to a DI is the most incredibly satisfying feeling

One week on and I’m still thinking about SF6. I miss it! In the meantime; folks have been datamining the data and unpacking the models etc. Nothing super interesting (although the commentary exists for some unseen characters like JP), however this unused track was found: m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=243&v=4ctYfLVfVnA&feature=emb_titleMenu music? Character music? Stage music? Who knows. But it’s cool as shit. Also current thought is the next batch of reveals will be during Paris games week at the start of November - historically a popular time to reveal SF stuff!
