I'm firmly sticking to the other stage today. Pretty much made for me. Nothing But Thieves atm.

Sleaford Mods are one of the best live bands ever. I'm very glad this is on my telly right now . Is the live band different to the studio one? I think they're dreadful in every way. I just don't get it (and that's my problem). Maybe an acquired taste?

The live band is andrew starting a song on his laptop and drinking a beer whilst Jason does his bit.
So yes, it's the same.
I love them though. Seen them many a time.

iplayer doesn't appear to have Heilung, but its available whereever you find your MeGusta rips. It's definitely worth a watch. It's up on iPlayer now. For some reason there are huge delays in getting some stuff up there. Bit mad, this...

Shania Twain singing harmonising the chorus from Feel like a Woman is a bit odd.

Never seen The National live despite being a fan for over 15 years at this point. I'd heard that Matt Berninger throws everything at their shows but I was not prepared for him to be flailing everywhere all the time!

SZA riding an ant is peak spinal tap The whole stage set is like peak spinal tap meets starlight express. Wtf are those columns meant to be?

I’m enjoying this SZA set but there’s a fixed camera they keep using pointed directly front on at the stage and it really makes it look like she’s in a tv studio for some reason
I don’t recognise any of the songs but good stuff.
Tried some of The National and they remain a band that just does nothing for me. I don’t know why, I’ve liked bands broadly like them before and all my friends love them, I just bounce right off them.

They're a band that if the lyrics resonate with you they really resonate, but I can see how if they don't then there's a few elements that stand in the way of playing them over and over.

I like The National, got all their records and that, but can definitely see why people bounce off them. Took me a few listens before they clicked for me
Not immediate for sure

Just watched the Janelle Monae set randomly. Funny as, and she's excellent. Proper performer with an old school voice repurposed. Lots of fun.

My favourite set was Fat White Family. Not watched it yet, but saw them a couple weeks back and they were on form - whether you like them or not, you can't deny they put on a passionate show and offer an alternative to (pretty much all) the other acts there over the weekend. I don't really like watching it on TV, at least not when it's live as I get sad I'm not there. The only set I did watch was The Breeders (who I also saw last week) and thought they put on a good show.

Yeah there's not much new music that gives me a buzz these days, so Fat White Family do fill that void. Shame Viagra Boys didn't do another set this year. Breeders were on top form.

Tried to watch a bit of Kasabian, they were like a poor covers band version with Serge jumping around in a stupid yeti suit.

I’m catching up now. Fat White Family were really good. The singer looked like he’d been dipped in lube.

Will check that out. Emily Eavis' response to "same old headliners" was telling and reflected exactly that. There ain't many new acts coming through to grab people. Did like Apollo Junction at the IW though - played every stage over 6 years, finally making an afternoon slot on the main stage. Nothing particularly new, but did it very well and were well received.

He's genuinely amusing. “This is a song about my feminist zeal – it’s called ‘I am Joe Talbot'” And his earlier comments about IDLES “The last thing our increasingly puritanical culture needs right now is a bunch of self neutering middle class boobs telling us to be nice to immigrants; you might call that art, I call it sententious pedantry.”

It's a tricky one, but for me Glastonbury has never been about the Pyramid. It's good for the TV, but they will always tend to play it safer with the billing to appeal to the masses. Thankfully there are lot's of other stages, and the sound is generally excellent on them all (though I understand there were some hiccups this year) and wherever you go, it feels pretty epic. I've probably seen more great sets on the Other stage, or even the Park than the Pyramid.

Zisssou - You should check out No Teeth from Newcastle. They might work for you if FWF and Viagra Boys do no-teeth.bandcamp.com/album/decadence-in-breedingI think a lack of new headliner level acts is effecting every festival these days. Certainly Download looks more or less the same every year, Reading has been rotating a handful of top slot acts too. I wonder if the move to more personalised consumption is to blame. In the past if you were a metal guy you bought Kerrang and they put Metallica on the cover and because every metal guy bought Kerrang Metallica were known or liked by all metal guys but if you’re a band coming up now you might not have that mass exposure even within your genre. You might have 400m TikTok views or something but if someone isn’t on TikTok then they’ve probably never heard of you. So does a promoter gamble on that audience turning up or just book Slipknot again because everyone has heard of Slipknot.

For what it's worth I quite like Idles energy and have seen them a few times, always delivering a solid set. But I think they became a pantomime act a long time ago, and whatever your opinion of Lias he never holds back expressing himself authentically. With Idles it all seems so forced.
