Olivia Rodrigo is comfortably the high point of the weekend. She was amazing.

I've never heard of Olivia before yesterday and watched a minute of the video above so haven't actually heard her sing. Judging a book by it's cover, but she seems a bit cookie cutter Disney club...
Checking out Roisin Murphy at the moment. Would've quite enjoyed that live! Watching this has got me properly into the mood for a festival. My missus is up for going next year and we'll most likely do Victorious fest in August too.

All I knew about her before this weekend was that she was a Disney kid and she’d lost a plagiarism case for ripping off Misery Business by Paramore.
She’s gone up in my estimation considerably.

Kacey Musgraves has two albums of happy fun country singalongs and two albums of “I’m a grown up now” monotony. She didn’t play a single song from the first two. I was disappointed. Kate Rusby can still sing a bit. Lorde now, then Imelda May. Apart from catching 20 minutes of Paul McCartney I don’t think I’ve actually watched any men sing this year.

There was a bit of kerfuffle last year when lots of people said one of her riffs ripped off Pump It Up by Elvis Costello. He responded by saying he stole it from Bob Dylan who stole it from Buddy Holly and everyone should stop complaining.

I think Paramore went the other way and she has to pay all the royalties from that song to them now or something. Feels less punk that Costello’s approach somehow.

Catching up on some sets today, and fuck me Self Esteem was magnificent, what an amazing set.
I saw them live a few months back and have been a huge fan since the first album, but that was an excellent set, bigger production than when I saw them which took it to another level.

Turnstile were a bit good. Its very tight between them and Skunk Anansie as heavy music highlight of the weekend for me.

I enjoyed the Wolf Alice set (particularity the more noisy stuff) and am really enjoying Bonobo's at the mo - lovely chilled vibes.

Is it sacrilege if I hope that Rihanna, SZA, or The Weeknd make a guest appearance?

I know it's not his song but I'd love to see him do *that* Control verse.

We've had this on all weekend at work and it's been an absolute pleasure. Enjoyed Foals, even though bits of it were a bit noodly - and Skunk Anansie were always going to be good. Can't believe Skin is 54. She's still got it.
Watched the Macca set and it was really well put together. Abe is just so fun to watch on the drums. Macca put in a good shift and the crowd singing Hey Jude was pretty special.

I know. I went to the latest tour, saw them in Lincoln which is a pretty small venue. She hasn't aged a day and the voice is still the same as it was. Good genes innit.

People really don’t like the US Supreme Court, do they? They cut this entire bit from the set on Iplayer. Not sure if it was due to the politics or the BBC getting a bit precious about some swearing at a music festival.

Jarvis wasn’t allowed to say cunts are still running the world apparently. Despite it clearly being a true fact.

Only managed to once one full set today, but really enjoyed watching Big Thief. They played a mix of their standard stuff and more of the folky stuff from the new album (which is one of my favourites so far this year).
Caught a few Metronomy songs too, still love them 👍

And back home. Six hours on the road. I am quite sleepy now. Olivia Rodrigo the standout, Phoebe Bridgers the big surprise, Imelda May the great way to end. Cassetteboy was good fun. Ate a lot. May die. It was good.

Didn't catch anything after Saturday after my 'cold' progressed into Covid FFS. Sunday was one bit hangover without the preceding fun. Need to catch up in dribs and drabs.
I went and actually listened to some Billie Eillish. I've changed my mind on her, I think she's decent and inventive and doesn't just sing about shite so is possibly also a good role model. It looks like a couple of her videos are pretty gruesome cool too.
I still don't think it fills a big stage like that live though, but 100,000 plus many TV viewers disagree, obviously.
But yeah, it's not made for me but I see merit in her music now. Except 'Bad Guy' because fuck that song.

Is iplayer the only way of catching up on some of this? I suspect so. It's been a bit of a big confusing mess IMO. I haven't watched it in years but the upside is amongst said confusing mess there's a lot more to see than the days of terrestrial telly. Although aren't you in Europe (could be wrong there), if so what is the craic with being able to view iPlayer or not?
