I've gone through a few CRTs now, and honestly the weight and size of the bloody things is what kept me from picking up another one. I'm fully LED and HDMI upscalar now (Retrotink products all the way, FYI, for anyone looking to make the move). I can fit a 55" in less space than I could fit a 32". The main thing I miss other than light gun games is the proper 4:3 form factor. Of course you can pillarbox the screen but something about the real thing just looks right - possibly the accurate bubble shape to the glass? Somebody needs to make a clip on screen that goes over the top with a goldfish bowl chunk of glass with which to pillarbox into.

I've spent too much lately on my retro collection. I have proper peaks and troughs where half the year I'm just not interested and then the other half I spend exclusively playing old games and go through this proper online shopping mania. It also doesn't help that a little retro gaming boutique has opened in the village

I'm the same, had a bit of a break. I only collect my favourite games and perhaps one I may have missed on at the time. Just picked up Body Harvest having never played it. Can't be doing with paying anything crazy though.. £40 my limit.

Even if I had the space I’m not sure I would be able to get it past the Mrs!

I've hovered over the buy button for Panzer Dragoon Saga several times over the past 10 years and never bit the bullet. Annoyingly if I'd bought it 10 years ago I'd have easily doubled my money by now. I recently bought the demo disc - which famously is the entire first disc of the retail game - to find out if I actually like playing it.
God help me if it clicks

I'm fucked if we get pregnant again (well quite literally actually...)

I've got a corner in the front room where I've put most of my retro games. Only problem is that if I want to play a console I have to take it out and hook it up. Girlfriend was more than happy to have it there! It'd only be a corner full of ornaments or something..

And now with Mario64 fetching 1.5 Million and Super Mario Bros fetching 2 Million at auction in the past month you can expect people to trying pushing prices up even further. The prices are not real, it's speculators manipulating the market, the games are not going into the hands of real buyers, it's speculators moving these graded items back and forth for maximum impact and publicity to pump up the market.
A better indicator is how much people are spending in the real World, the same items are still sold on eBay, a lot of these 'characters' did try to buy up all the sealed games they could but there would still be thousands out there outside of the sector of the market they control. Without their 'help' nothing is selling for Millions, or even tens of thousands unless it's a whole collection.
The Karl Jobst video on Youtube breaks down what they've been up to. It will have a knock on effect for a while but just like everywhere else speculators did this, it will eventually crash the market and crater prices. It's like a pyramid scheme, at the point they can't get any new money into the cycle it collapses.
I have a perfect, sealed USA copy of Rule of Rose, worth about £14-15,000 according to WATA, let's check planet reality. The only person selling Rule of Rose in the last three or four months on eBay is some Spanish dickbag ripping off people with cheap pirate copies of the game. They've pumped prices to the point where real buyers are exiting the market leaving people riding a pumped up unrealistic price point that nobody is tempted by. Best case scenario, these scumbags decide to start filling out their PS2 'portfolio' and I can ditch my copy for silly money and get out before the crash.

The Otaku SCART switches are the way to go if you decide you'd like multiple things hooked up at once. Worth every penny and in fact are really the cheapest option if you care at all about picture quality

Will consider one of those. I'm after a decent S Video cable for my N64 but really struggling to find one that isn't insanely expensive or cheap and shit..

Moreover you've got to be sure you're buying the right thing. PAL N64 over S-Video is a very specific cable despite it using the multi out port. All the ebay tat advertise the same cable supports SNES, N64 and GC but that simply cannot be true when it comes to PAL. I lucked out and found a premium cable second hand with the seller accurately describing exactly what it was.
PAL N64 is a bit of a bollock in general tbh

I reckon its simply an assumption by the seller because it has a multi-out connector. Trust me you need a specific cable, the image is completely blown out otherwise. Incidentally you can often mod video cables yourself to change compatibility (I've modded a GC RGB cable to be PAL SNES compatible before). Usually by adding or removing capacitors IIRC. Try the "N64 S-Video & AV cable - PAL version" here, I've used them before. I'm sure it's good enough to justify £7.90 consolegoods.co.uk

By the way have you ever looked into the N64 anti-blur stuff? The N64 has an awful anti aliasing effect on it at all times that is just a general blurring of the entire screen. You can remove it using an action replay: www.retrorgb.com/n64blur.htmlMight be a matter of taste though, jaggies versus blur, but having the option is interesting.

I've put an order in. Nah haven't looked at that actually. I might do in the future thanks!

Yeah good to see it on other platforms too. Both new remixes and original tracks from Yuzo Koshiro too. Great games, great news.

Sadly, it looks fucking horrible. And that remixed soundtrack can fuck right off as well.

Yeah really good. A bit clunky by modern standards but all part of the charm I reckon. Still fairly unique having the mix of platforming and god-game stuff. Can’t wait to try the remake.

Word is that the N64 games on Switch here are PAL versions, which would be disappointing if I hadn't already come to expect it from them really.

I’m personally not interested in paying Nintendo more money for a service that I already consider poor value and as a game collector I find the retro streaming service unappealing.
