You didn't used to murder everyone in the previous games duff? I know i tended to, unless it was really packed. It was like a reverse of my "try not to kill anyone" runs in dishonoured(s) or prey... Or are there just more troops around in this version? I think more troops mate and probably me having little patience...anytime away from Gears makes me nervous

I've never played one of these but will certainly give it a go on Gamepass! Hopefully will have downloaded by the morning...
Moving house next week and Internet will be going from about 15mbps to 500, finally!

Just finished level 3. What a beautiful level - intricate and mostly a delight to explore. Ended up in lots of close-quarter gun battles. Took my time to off almost every German… it took 2.5 hours! Really enjoying this, but I’m taking my time.

Started level two. Snuck quietly to the top of the church tower, took a couple of pot shots, and Germans came running from miles around.

The second campaign definitely feels more like a proper Sniper Elite level than the first campaign

Well I finally started last night & have been getting back into it. On the first opened up level & had forgotten how large some maps were.
Already failed many times after being heard & hunted. Mostly after taking out a patrolling MTB in the sea. D'oh! 😀
Already found some piddly little dune ripples i can't walk over. Sigh.
And some ropey cutscenes- the splashing for your sub surfacing were baaad.
As usual, the highly fun, but slightly janky format of the series remains.
Already made one bollocks shot on a patrolling nazi. Great stuff. 😀

Amazingly I didn't shoot the bollocks off anyone until maybe the 4th mission.

Performance on Series S is questionable - 1440p45fps for long stretches of the intro. I hope they add a 1080p60fps Performance Mode in an update.

Yep, frame rate tanks on the S any time I was near a fire effect. Needs work. The awkward traversal bit might be annoying me the most, especially when you get stuck in an animation loop on them while everyone’s shooting you.

TBF I don't think it even hits 1440p regularly.

Yeah I thought it was a bit suspect when I played yesterday. I enjoyed the hour or so that I put in but with the performance and the games I have in the backlog, will pick up down the line for PS5 in a sale!

It is very much a sequel though, could really be dlc

These were my closing thoughts from the recently completed games thread Duff
There is a good game in here but it needs some patches to bring it up a bit. The big red diamond that comes up when holding breath is just annoying and blocks your view. The controls are really clunky on a controller and the lack of deadzone settings really hurts. There are numerous bugs that stop you completing missions.
The good, the graphics look decent for an AA game at times (apart from the player models). The invasions are a really good addition but a bit too heavily balanced for the invader. Landing a nice shot never gets old.
6/10 but would move up to a 7.5 if they polished it up a bit (7 out of 10 using kbm).

Completed last night, at around 18 hours it didn't overstay its welcome. I was not playing on the hardest setting mind you and did run and gun a lot of the later missions, which really is not cricket!

The 3rd level is massive. I have tried to search most of it, but still think i missed a lot.
Certainly plenty intel left, and not sure i found the workbenches either.

After not getting on with this game initially, I decided to play it again this weekend and had a surprisingly great time with it.
I methodically worked my way around the first map, exploring everything, taking my time to flag enemies with the binoculars, timing my shots to anti-aircraft gun fire, and only moving out of cover when absolutely necessary. I didn't die once completing all objectives on the first map.
The only thing that still irks me is the way the game funnels you through certain avenues on the map, and prevents you from jumping over small hedges and walls for no reason. It makes getting around frustrating, and means I can't approach objectives how I want to.

Yeah, agreed- it’s always done that and presented a huge area via a series of set scenarios you move into. Guess is the smaller team can tailor things better then, there’s probably more AI work to do if it’s truly open.
I need to get back into it but now Elden Ring has seized me again. Need to copy and paste myself.

Easily the most intricate SE level I've played (as a long-time fan of the series). If you're patient and enjoy exploring it / collecting everything it takes bloody ages - I'm over 2 hours in and have not gone to the meeting yet (and only about half of the collectibles accomplished). Whether that's a good or bad thing will depend on how you look for in this type of game. I'm really enjoying. I should probably turn invasions on at some point before everyone stops playing it.

I turned invasions off. I was near the end of level 1 and just kept getting invaded which made any progress very difficult if not near impossible. Idk if they pitch them more once you are near the end, or if I just got unlucky with timing where that was everyone deciding to try invasions just as I was starting the game!
I was at least about 3 hours into level 3 by the way. Think my save is 200-odd mins I haven't actually extracted yet, so may have a cheeky google for workbenches and see if i can find them. I honestly think I scoured so much, but the meeting place is fairly vast and the town around it also takes ages to pick through. There is one area with load of soldiers, which is pretty much where a bench is likely to be I reckon, so might sneak about/or murder my way around there tonight before leaving.

I turned invasions off after being killed whilst the game was paused. They also seemed to happen immediately after loading up my game, meaning I had zero chance to get my eye in.
Is there an advantage to finding additional workbenches, if you're happy with your current loadout?

Not beyond unlocking other shit I think. If you spool over the other weapons that are locked, it'll say unlocked for killing target x in level y, or for finding rifle bench in level such & such.
The base stuff is fine, it's just the thrill of the chase/finding them and extra options really.

Is there an advantage to finding additional workbenches, if you're happy with your current loadout? I'm not sure there's necessarily an advantage but when I realised they give different options the obsessive-compulsive part of my brain instructed me to search them out at all costs.

I'll have to pay more attention to the workbenches and the challenges associated with unlocking new guns.
I'm quite happy with a silenced pistol and standard rifle, but a silenced rifle would be nice (if one exists) because subsonic rounds are in short supply and constantly swapping ammo is a pain.

Anyone have issues blowing up the Armoured vehicle that patrols the war factory? I've put a satchel charge on it, hit it with a panzerfaust, grenades, tnt, mines and AP rounds. All on the glowing weak spot it recommends and not even a scratch.
Thinking it's a glitch at this point.

I satchel charged it. You then need to shoot the glowing engine bit, using armour piercing rounds i think.
Might have used a mine first actually, as the fucker was stuck near me.
Definitely worked on xbox. The tanks take a lot of damage too.
Maybe try a reload if it's gone mental?
