It's a mobile game from the year 2027. My inner 'Ubisoft Ideal Marketing Persona' is quite enjoying it.

No NDA then?

No NDA, last Ubisoft NDAed title made it abundantly obvious by filling the screen with user identifiable data, this just has a number in the bottom left corner. My second boat, the Aardvark at full sail, with an ID in the corner.

It's a '£12 on CDkeys with all the dlc' kind of game. Uninstalled before the 6 hours were up.

Anyone playing the open beta ? managed 20 minutes this morning (ps5) before it crashed as I was about to go to the Indian Ocean, the opening was certainly fun enough, I will try to log back in today at some point.

Played the first hour or so before a crash. Nothing too great so far but I was wanting something else to play so I will persevere a bit.

Ubisoft defends Skull and Bones $70 price, calling it a "quadruple-A" game
Go home Ubisoft, you are drunk, again...

They probably had quadruple the development costs of a AAA game but still gave us a mobile game.

Had to reset straight away because it wouldn't let me get back on my ship from the camp. Made it to the next camp, it did the exact same thing again.
From the 5 minutes I played it felt sluggish as to actually play. The character movement on land felt like a wish version of Red Dead Redemption.
Might give it another try for the sake of it but it seems pretty crap to me.

Shame this as it should have been ace as Black Flag was.

It was genuinely charming to sail around in Black Flag listening to your crew singing away and the combat was great. How the me hearties-ing hell have they managed to make something less good after *all* these years have passed?

Probably after realising they wasted all that time and additional money on top of the funding from the Singapore government which made them beholden to releasing a game, they thought fuck it let's make it a low effort games as a service bullshit and still charge 70 quid.

Don't worry there's still enough people out there who will buy this shit without fully checking it out or because they must play every new release and claim they're "having a blast" and give up after 4 hours.

I've still got Ubisoft plus and I'm not sure I can even be arsed to install it.

I mean, it was... Back in AC Black Flag ten years ago (and there was more to it there, so...) Yeah right, couldn't you actually swing onto the enemy boat and swash buckle with the other sailors in BF? Then commandeer the ship too?? What have these devs actually been doing all these years.

I played the beta for quite a few hours last weekend. It was ok but it did feel like a mobile game with better then normal graphics. It could have been decent as something a bit different from the normal first/third person shooter games but for £65, it is not something I would bother with. Maybe a freebie on PSN in 3-6 months.

It's still got sea shanties. The same ones as in Black flag.

It's still got sea shanties. The same ones as in Black flag. When you spend so much money on that fourth A there's no room in the budget to record new songs

If they put new shanties in it, the game would be 5A and I'm not sure the world is ready for that.
