Its absolutely hilarious that they have just taken every show from The Escapist and painted it red. WHY DIDNT WE THINK OF THIS SOONER?!?

They’ve even got stuff like the playthrough all of Half Life series picking up exactly where it left off.
I know we’ve had a few of these creative team leaves and sets up its own thing incidents but this must be one of the first bigger ones where the team have just lifted all of their content wholesale and continued their exact same set of series under new branding.
I do note that they say don’t blame or hate on the writers who stayed at the Escapist, but consider who has moved and how much they’ve taken with them I’m amazed there’s anything left for those writers to do. Its usually the splitters who need to regroup and come up with new ideas not the original host.

Giant bomb has been awful for years, can't stand the podcast or videos now. Lucy is great but she is on the skillup podcast. Taking of that podcast, they asked one of the main people Jared the completionist to step back over his somewhat dodgy charity work (never liked him on the podcast as he tried to make it about him a lot of the time)
Glad The Escapist people found a new home as watched the Minnmax interview with Nick and Yahtzee and it sounds like the suits that owned he Escapist were awful to work with

This second wind project sure was setup quickly. Got to be thinking there was some behind the scenes fuckery going on and they were already developing a contingency plan for their escape.
That aside, good to see that the content can continue under the old fully Rambo as I liked ZP. Must say, the number of patreons they have at the end of the video must give them some hope for future content as well.

Yeah Gerstmann seems ok being a one man show for now. And he’s now got 3 kids aged 4 and under, so I imagine it helps not having to line up schedules with anyone else…

Same. I don't even think it was leaving that did it but them creating Nextlander a few months later.
Jeff has said a few times that he wants to get more people involved and create a new channel/site but I doubt that's happening. Guy hasn't even bothered to set up his streaming room in over a year.
GB currently playing Dreamcast games as part of the extra life stream is bliss.

I give the Jeff show a listen (he needs to get cut down on the energy drinks, not like he is good shape) and he needs to do better with the pdocast. Also I though always did better with Danny from noclip

Jeff always needed someone like Brad or Vinny to bounce off. And yeah the ranking of energy drinks basically killed the podcast off for me. Guy would spend 15 minutes talking about it before even taking a sip at times.

The OG team of giant bomb was excellent really started the downhill trend when Ryan died. They made the podcast, now its just a name (saw what Dan looks like now a bit charles bronson there.....)

I think it stayed strong. Covid really did a number on it then losing 3 key members.
The current group have started to settle in and have started doing more in person events which the channel definitely missed.
Some of the streams go way to into the let's scream down our mics to be funny route though.

I need to cut at least one weekly podcast because I’m not getting through them all- and I think it’s between Giant Bomb and Nextlander to be honest. Gerstmann does sometimes wander off topic, and I agree that the energy drink ratings miss more than they hit, but he often finds an angle on a story that neither GB nor Nextlander pick up on.
My surprise top podcast at the moment is NoClip though. Danny, Frank and Jeremy have a really good dynamic, and they have great insights into the process of making games, and the art and vision behind them.

The Escapist’s Slightly Something Else podcast is now Second Wind’s Slightly Somewhere Else podcast and Yahtzee and friends have Stephanie Sterling as a guest for tonight’s “first” episode.
Looks like - same as everything they left with - its exactly the same as the Escapist show was.

I quite enjoy games and just get tired of the constant negativity from people. I know the industry is shit, just like loads of other ones.
I've starting sticking more to the positive games media now unless it's a particularly big story.

I don’t watch every episode anymore (true of most things) but I do still enjoy Jimquisition. It is a shame they don’t put videos like Jimpressions on youtube anymore though.
