I've just realised / remembered that the Silent Hill film Christophe Gans is working on is basically Silent Hill 2. He's meant to be sticking much closer to the story this time than he did with the first film / game as well. That's awesome.

I really liked his first Silent Hill, disregarding the story itself, it had such powerful sound design, and still feels like it is the loudest film I've ever seen in the cinema by some way!

Performance is pretty bad on this. I don't feel like my PC should be struggling anywhere near as much as it is...

Not only still in business, but they keep getting exclusivity on collectors editions somehow. I'd just as soon run my money through a shredder than risk it with them.
I fancied the Metaphor one, but just closed the tab as soon as I found out it was exclusive to them.

Regarding Game, I had a friend who pre-ordered the Gold Disc edition of Space Marine 2 and received it over 2 weeks after the normal release when they should’ve had 4 days early access and don’t even get an apology.

I ended up in one a couple of months ago, and it's basically new HMV without music. It will go under again soon, people buy funkopops, boardgames and plushies online. I guess being in a corner of JD Sports might keep it alive a little longer

I'm sorry but fool on you if you decided to order from GAME. Not only have they been confirmed to have supply issues.. the steelbook was priced £10 more than the normal edition, and isn't it £4.99 postage?

I was tempted with the steelbook a couple of months ago. I really wanted a physical edition and the steelbook looked cool. Of course, it was Game, and that made my mind up to just go digital.

I don't understand why they continue to get exclusive deals? Just give Smyths the deal. Fuck em.

Finished Blue Creek and back out into Silent Hill now. Made it as far as the bar and stopped. Re the end of Blue Creek: I think I prefer the original Pyramid Head fight. It felt more WTF due to the randomness of the location and the way he exits the fight. It was still cool though, and I would have loved it more had it not been for me comparing it to the original. First (very minor) misstep so far and a real nitpick. The rest has been glorious.

I played over an hour last night. I'm pretty damn impressed with what I've played. The main annoyance is myself switching between quality/performance and also the filters.
The combat is a lot tighter than the original, which is great. I did find myself going guns blazing, but then getting mullered a few times, so perhaps there is still an element of, running away is the best idea.

My partner would have been playing this already, but Royal Mail failed to knock on our door or leave a slip on Monday. Then failed to knock on the door Tuesday. Then the app refused me a redelivery option until after the third attempt (whilst we were both at work). Then I find out today my Royal Mail Customer Service point is only open for 2 hours per day and is already shut (closes at 10am), but now I can have it redirected to my local post office for collection on Monday…

Jeez. That's also a case for not buying those expensive editions that come with early access.

If you're going to do early access via preorder then get the fucking digital copy, seems pointless otherwise. No pissing about with missed deliveries or delays.
As for SH, still loving this, but I'm tense as fuck playing it. Did my first in the dark with headphones session last night (only because my wife fell asleep next to me on the sofa though,I'm a big baby), that was very intense, but clearly how the game should be played.

Yeah I did a bit more last night too. Slowly mopping up the bits on the side as I go.
There's some kind of weird extra tension in this version, in a good way. I can't put my finger on it yet but it's definitely more immersive.

And yes Wunty, hate those leggy bastards too!

Dunno, I quite appreciated it having never played the original. I was getting swept up in some of the hype, but the review reflects some of what I see.
I'll still give in to curiosity down the line when it's cheap as it's a weird personal gap in a genre I love. But it always looked a little silly to me. Most of the reviews lean heavily into nostalgia which I won't have. Nice to have an alternative.

I agree but a lot of the story elements seem to have been completely glossed over and ultimately it's let down by how badly it's written. Everything is objective but to say it's not a graphically good looking game is some right horseshit.

Games journalism can really piss me off at times. Like you said the score is whatever their opinion is, but honestly there’s people on here that could write a better article than this.. they’re supposed to be propaaa games journalists.

It's certainly not a top tier game visually if you are comparing it to some thing like Alan Wake. It's certainly decent looking though and plenty good enough to be immersive.

The guardian review is awful. Not because I disagree with it (I do), but he’s actually managed to miss the point of what Silent Hill actually is.

... man. Just spent the last two hours finishing up Woodside/Blue Creek and then exploring the full area around Jack's before getting ready to move on.
It's honestly just been brilliant for me, so far. Absolutely love what they've done with it.
