I swear this had a thread but maybe I'm misremembering. Anyway, not so much about the game, but more about the incompetence of Russian forces. Very sad.

Options Audio Voice language: Russian
Not that the voice acting is bad, just doesn't fit for me

I think I read somewhere the option for Russian voice acting has been dropped on favour of Ukrainian

To be honest, even hokey Eastern European accents would do. It's just such a specific setting that the voices in the trailer ruin the immersion
It's been so long since I've played Stalker. Loved the first one, second one was fun but wasn't really the same with the faction stuff. Never got around to the third one (but I think it was suppose to be closer to the first). Would welcome some ports
I still need to play the Metro games, so I might do that

Just wanted to say that in some ways Call of Pripyat was a natural progression from Clear Sky.
Even less people that are hostile by default for example. The mix of more generic and specific anomalies from Clear Sky is now mostly specific hand-made anomalies in CoP. Artifacts just got changed to something different again, but detectors are still in. Hunting for artifacts in anomalies is much easier now though. There are only three big maps in CoP, but they are completly new and there are a few new enemies. There are way more mutants than in Clear Sky, so that at least is definitely back to normal, but the Horror aspect is still mostly gone. They tried, but unsuccessfully in my opinion. Side quests are are scripted now, but it's not really an improvement. Oh, and there are finally emissions as an actual game mechanic.

The recent write up on RPS of this didn't sound great :x
Got all my digits crossed that this is good.

To me the trailer looks comfortingly like the old games, even down to the looting UI, but with a new lick of paint and more ideas, such as new anomalies. Buttt... it also looks like the accompanying jank might still be there. The few clips of enemy soldiers don't give a great impression that the AI is up to much. My fear is that it'll be quite a faithful sequel, but not enough of an overhaul and issues that were excusable 20 years ago, or however fking long it's been, are really noticeable nowadays.

I agree- more of the same would certainly be OK, not quite what I was expecting given the game’s classic status, but expectations adjusted and ghille is still going to be dry cleaned in preparation. AI looked a bit wank, indeed

So long as they nail the atmosphere, that's all it needs. Modders will make a far better game out of it anyway.

A really important and really harrowing read. Ukrainians, not just in the abstract, but many friends and colleagues, continue to amaze me. Nearly two years on from the start of the invasion, however, Grygorovych feels as though the world has largely forgotten Ukraine.I don't think we can understate what a catastrophe it will be for Europe, and the world, if we lose sight of this conflict. There are plenty of reasons to be horrified by a Trump presidency but how he will react in terms of policy to Ukraine, and NATO, is the one that keeps me up at night. And then we have Orbán, the tinpot kleptocratic arch-disruptor dictator of my adopted homeland, whose servile Putin brown-nosing shames Hungary and all of us who live here. Cunt. Slava Ukraini!

Great it's out but pretty annoying that it's currently just the Xbox One version (an 11yr old machine...) and although we are 3 years into the current gen, the Series X version isn't out until "later this year" (so probably 2025).

Did they also improve the graphics or something? The videos look pretty different from the PC version I remember. Then again, I played it nearly unmodded (only installed the ZRP patch to fix the bugs).

Just done the first hour of Shadow of Chonobyl and I'm pleasantly surprised. As someone who got it at launch on PC and found out it crushed my at the time pretty swanky rig, it's weird just loading a 4k60fps version as a console game.
Actually looks way better than I expected and they've ported the UI in an acceptable way. Gamepad doesn't feel shit. Still retains all the charm and atmosphere.
Reckon I will probably play it through and it was only a tenner.

I'm pretty impressed with the PS4 version running on PS5 as well, a hell of a lot more smoothly than it did on my PC all those years ago. Gamepad controls seem to work great too although at one point the default auto aim assist went a little too nuts like an aim bot in how it went after one of the bandits in that car park place, it didn't happen again while I was playing.

That's the last thing I expected to see. It's the first time a lot of people are going to play it and frankly I envy them, but also; what?

I'm fine with that, they can take as long as they want if it means a polished game.

It's almost certainly not going to be a polished game.
