Why would anyone willingly have watched another after watching 2?!! Why would anyone watch another after having seen the first one? Morbid curiosity.
I heard it was really awful. It was worse.

Went to the cinema to watch Skyline with my best mate (who loved it).
I now refuse to watch anything he recommends. The worst sci-fi film I have ever seen (not seen Battlefield Earth thankfully)

I readily admit the newest Hellboy was kind of wank, and I’ve gone on this quasi-rant before, but I did appreciate that it was far more comic faithful than the GDT films. The second especially is just a GDT movie that happens to have Hellboy in it.

I don't really get why GDT is so revered, Pans Labrynth is the only great film he's done.
The rest range from good to shit.

I sort of enjoyed Skyline in its own way. Aliens invade and then proceed to kill off the entire cast one by and then it ends. No purpose. No hope. No redemption. Just puny humans dying.
There should be more films like that.

Skyline is watchable shit, the two sequels are just complete shit.

Actually, rethinking it, it was because the basic idea of Transformers is awesome, and Optimus Prime is awesome, and the first movie was terrible, but I still held out hope that they'd get it right if they tried again. But it just got worse. And long. So so so long. Fool me once...

The Transformers in general were too spiky and weren’t really transforming so much as weirdly morphing. Something they kind of corrected for Bumblebee and appear to be fixing completely with whatever the Beast Wars movie is called.

Also the third one wasn’t absolutely awful, mainly because the switch to 3D meant Bay had to tone down his cuts and camera movement. But that’s damning with faint praise.

I still can't work out how you can make a movie with optimus prime in it, with the original voice actor no less, and make it shit.

Never underestimate Michael Bay I guess.

I mean, he mainly did it by giving Optimus and the cool robots as little screen time as possible and filling the rest of the screen time with shite. But you'd have to be actively trying to fuck it up to get it that badly wrong.
The Rock is still a good movie though, right? I remember that one being great. Then everything he did after that getting worse and worse.

I was never really into transformers. Had some of the toys and saw the first movie at the cinema. I think I remember the robots being cool but that was about it.
I do not understand how Bay movies make so much money and how he keeps getting funding.

I don't understand why he took a colourful cartoon and made everything so bland. Every fight is just a shiny blur andyou can't see who is who. Having big red robot punch big blue robot would have been so much more visually coherent.

I still think Bay was bullied by Transformers fans as a kid and the movies were his way of getting back at them.

So it's not exactly a shit movie, well it is but in an enjoyable way, but GDT's Pacific Rim knew how to do giant fucking robot fights properly. No shakey cam out of focus bollocks in there.

Pacific Rim is ok, not too bad
They might be small robots but Real Steel is the best robot fighting movie. It’s an absolute classic

Whaaaat?
It’s awesome Jambo
Reminds me a bit of ‘Over the Top’ but with fighting robots instead of arm wrestling
But much better

Hahaha, Over the Top. Man that film was something else. I read that Stallone was paid some stupid money by Cannon Films because he kinda thought no one was going to see it so let's get that pay day.
Just checked: 12 million dollars which is insane for the 80s.

Suddenly everyone in my primary school was injuring themselves trying to arm wrestle.

Michael Bay was an adult when Transformers came out, I've got no idea why he's so invested in them. He's not really, he was hired - and paid loads of money - to make a big blockbuster. I think he quite enjoyed making them, at least at first, and they made tons of cash and he was raking it in. So it's more like he took a job that he enjoyed and paid well so he stuck at it until well after driving it into the ground critically and commercially.

I can't watch Casablanca the same way after having had the gigantic, story destroying plot hole pointed out to me.

The letters of transit would be worthless if signed by Charles de Gaulle, as Ugarte said.

Prometheus
What a fuck up. Ridley hired the worst writers imaginable and continued his descent having not made a good film since black hawk down. Think of a more unlikeable group of characters written into a film who also happen to make the most ridiculous decisions at every given opportunity. An insult to the viewers intelligence.
Fucking brain dead nonsense and unfortunately spawned an equally shit sequel.
