The Bollywood guy and his valet gave it something at least, the valet was mvp. They're needed for some comic relief as the rest of the cast are fairly humourless. However that Eternal didn't even contribute in the final fight, so seems like a character that can be easily cut. I didn't think it at the time, but I wouldn't be surprised if the valet was an addition in a re-write by someone else. He was tonally quite different to everything else. The film definitely needed a human as an entry point for the audience. It more naturally feels like it should have been Dane, but he disappears to the point where you pretty much forget about him. Edit - on image quality, looked pretty good to me. No clarity problems at all. The fight in London looked quite flat, but rest seemed fine. I do have a very good, quite modern, multiplex though, where I've never had complaint about the projection. Whenever I go to older ones I'm shocked by how poor picture/sound quality are.

On a Infinity saga rewatch right now, and watched Thor: The Dark World after Avengers (instead of Iron Man 3). Why do people hate on this movie? It's not the greatest movie ever, but it's entertaining.

I liked it more than the first Thor, where not a lot happened. At the time. Haven't rewatched it. I actually started a rewatch and ended right after Iron Man 3, so that would be next up if I continued.

It’s just a bit more ‘straight to dvd’ than the rest. It’s not the worst though, that’s still The Incredible Hulk.
D+ is supposed to be introducing the IMAX home experience on all the Marvel movies tomorrow, so they’ll all be full screen. It’s a small thing but I really like it having a large screen that really maximises it. Looking forward to rewatching them.

It's not the greatest movie ever, but it's entertaining. I don't know. I wouldn't have it as one of my top Marvel movies, but I didn't think there was anything particularly bad about it. It did rather under-use Christopher Ecleston, but that's a standard Marvel thing for movie villains. I guess it was darker than most of the other ones. Incredible Hulk seems to have been erased from the Infinity War history, but I didn't think it was half as bad as people say. It did suffer from cgi-fest end battle syndrome, but that's also reasonably common in these kinds of movies, and kinda unavoidable in a Hulk movie. The central romance with Liv Tyler was good, imho. I'd have liked to have seen her come back in later movies like her dad.

Incredible Hulk, Thor 2 and Black Widow are mediocre, but Eternals is the first MCU movie I’ve seen where I was bored, and I mean consistently bored for about an hour twenty. The second half of the movie was thankfully up the mediocre standard.
I just watched Shang-Chi, enjoyed it a lot. The gag at the end won the day.

I like Incredible Hulk, but its probably got more in common with superhero films pre-MCU than it does with the MCU house style

I found Shang Chi to be an unexpectedly emotional watch. They did an excellent job and I look forward to the next film! I found Eternals to be quite exciting but generally less emotive, which is odd given the actual context. It might have been Madden’s acting… but then Gemma Chan was great. The whole last bit was spectacular though. And that ending with Arishem turning up and giving everyone a bollocking was absolutely excellent.[\spoiler]

Without spoilers, can anyone explain why everyone loves Shang Chi so much... because I can summon zero enthusiasm for it.

The trailers don't give that impression at all though. They look like a generic MCU take on a kung fu movie. They don't look bad, but they don't look fresh or funny or original.

Just finished watching Iron Man 3. I would rate it worse than Thor: The Dark World actually.

There was something about this ordinary guy, and only good character in the movie, having a very human moment about being thrilled to just have been in their presence a while. He’s probably the best actor in the film, too. Kudos, valet guy, long may whatever your name is be remembered.

It's surprisingly a lot more fun than that. It's a bizarre family drama/martial arts/epic fantasy deal with a very charming male lead and some fun performances from a lot of people. Also it's just fucking weird, mostly in a good way. I watched it expecting very little and enjoyed it a lot, and I'm generally a harsh critic of the MCU.

That's actually kind of amazing. All I care is that it has to have the original theme tune.

I have almost zero interest in Shang-Chi, but I am intrigued as to whether his dad is still Fu-Manchu or have they erased that bit of good old-fashioned yellow peril racism from the MCU. Edit: looked it up, they dumped that bit of lore. POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD.

I've just watched the Moon Knight teaser (and it really is a tease, because you see practically nothing) but I heart Oscar Isaac and this could be really good. Some of the later comics were brutally violent.
I still have a fond place in my heart for 80s Moon Knight, crappy Batman ripoff that he was.
Who's doing that annoying (British?) accent in the teaser? Is it Isaac? It's fucking awful.

They've erased that bit of history his dad is another racist caricature of marvel villain that's been updated for the 21st century.

I thought that. It's a bit weird replacing one old racist trope with another, but hey, Marvel owns The Mandarin outright and they'd have to pay rights for the other.
