Suprised they didn't go the dead cells route in terms of updates and dlc. Sure they worked out the numbers though and this looks quite interesting.

Looks cool, but will need to change things up somewhat to get me interested after sinking 100+ hours into the first game.

Looks cool, but will need to change things up somewhat to get me interested after sinking 100+ hours into the first game. Yeah looked like DLC fodder to me, not sure it needed a sequel. They have a massive audience on the original and a bumper DLC at 10-15 quid would probably have worked and wouldnt have needed to change things too much. A sequel puts more pressure on and feels unnecessary

I'm a bit sceptical about the "need" for this, myself - the first game was superb, and not all superb games need sequels!* - but I can't help but be excited for it, all the same.
How long did the original spend in early access? As a console peasant, I have a feeling this'll be a long ol' wait.

This was my lockdown game, so Im more than happy to get another. I dont think we *need* it (if we ever need a sequel to anything) but Id be ok with just more levels and weapons, so a full game is fine by me.

I had to uninstall it as it was so easy to have a quick run through and you're still playing 4hrs later.

Looking into this a bit more, the protagonist this time is listed as Melinoe, a relatively obscure chthonic goddess mentioned in the Orphic hymns as Zagreus' sister and associated with Hecate, who is the goddess of boundaries, witchcraft and the moon among others (also possibly the figure sparring with Melinoe in the trailer) As for the antagonist (who is presumably the one who imprisoned Hades), he is most likely Kronos, first and leader of the Titans and father of six of the twelve main Greek gods, also infamously known for trying to eat said gods to ensure they wouldn't usurp him, as was revealed to him in a prophecy. He'd have managed it, too, if his wife (and sister...) Rhea hadn't given him a big rock in place of the infant Zeus... So basically it seems at least one of the Titans is attempting to overthrow the pantheon that usurped them, and more obscure myths will be explored like with Zagreus in the first game... And I am 100% ready for this Edit: Supergiant's website mentions the antagonist is the Titan of Time, which probably means Kronos will also have some aspects of Chronos, the God of Time, who is technically a separate entity from the Titan but also often presented as one and the same... Greek mythology is weird

As for the other characters that made an appearance, we've got: Moros, the personification of impending doom, one of Nyx's many children and brother to the Fates Apollo, who shouldn't need an introduction Dora, most likely Pandora (as Dusa was to Medusa in the first game), the first mortal, created by Zeus as punishment for Prometheus stealing the fire from the gods, who opened the jar that contained all the evils of the world and set them all free And of course Nemesis, the one who brings divine retribution to those who succumb to hubris. In Herodotus' works, nemesis as a concept is a part of the four steps that lead to man's ruin: Hubris (the attempt to step beyond the human nature's limits due to the overestimation of one's abilities, thereby insulting the gods) brings Atë (pronounced A-ti, blindness and destruction of the mind that leads to further hubris), eliciting Nemesis (the anger of the gods and divine retribution) and finally leading to Tisis, divine punishment. Lots to unpack from just one trailer!

9/10 early access review from IGN.
Early access supposed to last until the end of 2024 at least.
Just gotta keep hoping that it'll come to consoles sometime next year.

I want this so badly but I think I will try and wait. It's one of my favourite games ever but I really want to experience it as it should be.
Which probably means I will post my thoughts about it tomorrow!
