I love both. Comfort games for me, I always feel like replaying them!
I enjoy the combat, story and the Zelda lite metrovania structure. For me both have epic moments and enjoyable characters.

Can't disagree with that. I started Jedi Survivor for the 2nd time the other day. It's so much better now on console running in performance mode, silky smooth. My 1st play-through was a stutter fest, it somewhat marred the experience.

I played through both Fallen Order and Survivor in quick succession and while burnout is an obviously potential threat, I didn't suffer it. I agree that the sequel is more accessible, but for me both games were great (the first as a proof of concept, the second as the bigger and better sequel) and I do hope Respawn get the greenlight to complete the trilogy (and to explore some hinted twists and turns) - but with EA clamping down on licensing IPs for its game and the director of both games leaving to setup a new studio, I cannot be very optimistic... As for the scene richyroo mentions, it was really amazing, especially right before it actually happens

Another huge plus to the sequel is they managed to make him look less punchable. Always put me off the original how annoying Cal looked. They changed his look slightly, added a beard and some scars etc so he looks less like some spoilt brat out of Harry Potter.

Thats true. He looks like he is in his late teens in the 1st game, whereas the sequel he looks like early to mid-20's.
I cannot remember how old he is suppose to be in each game though.

He was about 13 when Order 66 happened, so in Fallen Order he would be roughly 18, so by the time of Survivor he'd be around 23-ish.

Still there is no excuse to create your main character to look like that much of an annoying prick. When they were going through all the concept ideas for who their protagonist was to going to be I can’t believe what we got is what they decided for the look.

If you don't like him, don't play the force unleashed games the main character is awful. Much more of annoying prick

That is Cameron Monaghan's face, not like they created it.
I think he does an excellent job as well with the voice acting in the games.

I can't imagine the game without him to be honest. Anyway, ten minutes in (after patiently waiting for a year!) and this is just stunning. Happy memories are coming flooding back. I'm not even that much of a Star Wars nerd but I am here for Jedi Souls.

The first main planet is huge. It’s taking me forever to get through as I’m exploring ever nook and cranny. Plenty of locked paths for later. Combat is good fun for the most part and the soundtrack who ever did it really nailed the Star Wars sound.

Is there a better looking game out there?
Since getting my pc I’ve tried a few new games including helldivers and Spider-Man etc but this seems the best. The ray tracing is often excellent and the animations on the characters faces are some of the best I’ve ever seen. Also for the first time I’ve actually noticed full reflections in water of what is going on around me.
Oh is the dude on my team the voice actor from red dead redemption? I know this voice but I’m not 100% sure it’s him.

The eye reflection in particular seemed amazing to me the first time I played it.

I think there are better looking games out there in specific areas, like I think that Suicide Squad's facial animation blows it out of the water, the ray tracing is admittedly excellent but I don't think the animation blending is particularly well handled and player movement can look very awkward like you're in charge of a marionette at times. It's a very good looking game but I think there are other games that it do better and with more polish.

The respawn when resting mechanic taken from dark souls is a bit pointless in this. It’s no where near the same challenge as a From game so there just no need to have the warning etc that resting will respawn all enemies. I’ve died plenty of times in this but there is never a need to fight your way through enemies again. There is always a rest point next to any boss or challenge and each rest point is never this perilous journey in the dark with a torch hoping to find the next Bonfire with a load of xp.
Great fun game though. Respawn know their single player campaigns! Mw, mw2, tf2 and these two in a row. That’s one hell of a cv.

Losing interest a bit. Back to the first main planet again after a pretty uninspiring visit to the desert temple world. I was pretty bored throughout that planet except the pretty decent climax to it with the green teleporting bit. I feel like the game needs more epic moments like there were in the first 30 minutes of the game.
The great sword stance seems very over powered as well.

Heh - I'm loving it! Probably about the same place as you. Did the first Jedda visit, then came back to the moon and now the starter planet. I'm mainly just hoovering up the collectibles and exploring, because that's what I loved about the first game. Every now and then I'll accidentally advance the storyline. It *is* better in pretty much every way when compared to the first game, but sadly that includes dialing up the jank. Transitions especially are borderline broken here, and often triggers for things just stop appearing for no obvious reason. The animations are individually excellent, but seem to have been stitched together by the work experience kid. It's lacking the polish of something like the Tomb Raider reboots, or even the recent Guardians of the Galaxy game. But that's just jank - the game itself is bigger, better, possibly easier, but even more fun than the first one. And I even like the map: JUDGE ME!

Phattso The map in Survivor is miles above Fallen Order, as it can actually be useful, whereas the original was actively useless... ... and I agree it *is* bigger and better in every way compared to FO, even if a couple of Force Tears make me want smash my controller to pieces.

Blue_Mike Definitely the first, the second one is doable if you lower the difficulty - which I have no problem doing when facing 2 freaking rancors

I think I’m getting quite late game now and it’s reminding me of dragon age 2. It’s a good game with some good characters but I’m just jumping between maybe two locations the whole game? Really? On a Star Wars adventure I’m spending my time jumping between two main spots? I’m thinking there is one more spot to come but damn this ain’t no uncharted 4 adventure I would expect from this.

Uncharted 4 bored the arse off me by the halfway point. Lots of variety of location, but no real shakeup to the gameplay. 3 and 4 are the only two of that series that I never replayed. Lost Legacy is probably the best of the lot for me, and that didn't have quite such variety.
I fully understand all the criticism of Jedi Survivor, but I'd have to say it's probably the most fun I've had in a Star Wars game since Dark Forces. I'm totally addicted to the vibe, the exploration, the combat, the upgrade tree, the secrets, all of it.
For sure it's not really a Souls-like at this point, and I do miss the trepidation I felt in Jedi Fallen Order, but the action adventure it has morphed into ticks a lot of my personal boxes.

Thats a horrible thing to say, comparing to Dragon age 2
Quite enjoying the game, glad its not hardcore souls like, there does seem a bit of delay when trying to counter with the Y button skills some times? but those robots from the phantom menace, need to STFU. I now Cal does comment they talk too much

So, played a lot over the past five days. I'm back to the moon for the second time. I guess I'm about halfway through or maybe a little more.
A bit weird how Cal must "remember" how to use the force to lift platforms, given you had been lifting rocks for hours already. The first game was a bit more believable in this regard.
Anyway, it's fun enough but I also don't feel compelled to play any of the sidequests or explore the world. Don't know why. I'm just blazing though the story. The combat system is ok but not very fun. Pretty much Souls, except Cal has nowhere near the responsiveness required for this kind of gameplay. And the story is interesting enough while also being... predictable, for lack of a better word.
Overall, I dunno... it's competent? I'd rather have had a non open world, linear game, but given that you can ignore the sidequests, it doesn't matter all that much.
Sure looks nice too. Playing on Series S, and while it's 30fps (but very stable), resolution is not as low as I had feared. In fast motion you can tell it's using reconstruction, but the end result looks very good to me.

TBF, the 60fps mode is where this game's at.

TBF, the 60fps mode is where this game's at. Maybe, but I can play Souls games just fine at 30fps (despite their terrible frame pacing), so I guess the controls here are just heavy in the first place.

I think the 30fps mode would make me poorly so I only tried it briefly.
This isn't a soulslike game though is it?. It's pretty much a cakewalk except for one or maybe 2 boss spikes.
I've never really played a souls game mind you as you have to be online so it doesn't fit with my 'quick go' gaming schedule
