Wow, that’s not a bad price. Might just buy the Deluxe then.

Same, deluxe content is 9.99 by itself anyways.

Damn, Xbox servers seem to be getting hammered with this release. Trying to download it but

Mines going slowly.
Just under 10gb.
Bought the deluxe edition but the content isn't in my queue so maybe suffering due to the high traffic.

Really liking the art style.

Yeah, it’s gorgeous in motion. Visuals are very clean, and the animation outside of cutscenes is very fluid. It really does have that whole Jet Set Radio/Sunset Overdrive vibe, even if it isn’t about rollerblading.

This is cool! Used Cloud Gaming to play the first 20 minutes or so, though perhaps cloud isn't great for the latency...

Yeah, it even warns you at the start to make sure you have your TV set to Game Mode.
It’s really fun. I played up to the first boss fight. A bit simplistic but it was fun with the rhythm game vibe. It seems less open world than I imagined from the trailer, though that could’ve been just the introductory stage. But it felt pretty linear, which is fine. Combat seems simplistic at first, but once you get to your HQ, you can start buying combos DMC-style.
Writing and characters are very early 2000s Cartoon Network-style, and that’s exactly what I wanted.
I’ll play more tomorrow, but I’m having a blast. Really hope it’s successful for Microsoft, because it’s the exact type of thing I’d like to see more of.
Just kind of reminded how we didn’t get more Sunset Overdrive because nobody bought it, or how Rare was kind of left to cool off when nobody bought Kameo and Viva Piñata. Hope this doesn’t meet the same fate.

Enjoyed what I've played so far. Also has a Scott Pilgrim vs The World vibe to it.

This is pretty good and a lovely out of the blue surprise. Its the perfect gamepass game as well as I am not sure how well a new IP game like this would sell but on gamepass people will give it a go and quite and many will be pleasantly surprised. Plays well and looks and sounds great. I normally struggle a bit with rhythm based attack games (metal hellsinger) but this is much easier to gel with.

Installing on Steamdeck now. Will report back. Minimum requirements seem pretty lightweight, just a weak quad core (not even eight threads), and a GTX 1050. I've seen people running at 1440p and max details on a 1060. Should run well enough on the Deck, in fact I'm surprised there's no standard Xbox One version. Guess I'll be trying it next week on both laptop and Series S. Pretty sure it's Play Anywhere too.

You can change it to show the beat at the bottom of the screen.

Yeah I don't find that much help tbh as you end up watching that and not what's happening. Your first attack is always on beat anyway from what I've seen so you can adjust from there.

After the first boss you get a tool that opens the combat up quite a bit. The combat system seems fairly simple early on but it's actually quite deep.
Edit: 2nd boss down and this is getting better and better, if it had released last year it would have easily been in my top 5 for the year.

Well that's certainly a strong impression for something to leave in a short few hours. Looking forward to trying this as soon as I finish the now never ending slog that Persona 5 Royal has become.

I just noticed the cats head bobs to the beat anyways to help. Done the first 2 bosses. The 2nd level took me nearly an hour. Not sure if the levels are just long or u was messing about too much looking for stuff or just suck. But this is a joy to play.

Played the first level of this, fuck this really, really feels like a game made by Clover Studios back in the GameCube days. It's got a shit ton of charm and definitely seems to go out of its way in wanting you to have fun more than anything. I would like more games like this from Xbox tbh.

I feel GP could allow MS to let its studios do more stuff like this. They could go full SEGA Dreamcast/Xbox era at times if they want.
Pentiment was another they allowed thanks to GP and its smaller budget.
I'm looking forward to Double Fines next game.

From my intial thought, when watching last night, I hoped the levels would be not just visually distinct but aurally too. Is that the case? Combat syncing to the beat sounds interesting but only if the beat changes a lot during the game.
I'm still yet to play it, anyone found the beats to be varied?

The songs change at certain areas of the level.
You know when because a MTV style credit comes up on the lower left.

Surprised there aren't a few more of us playing this. Still having a blast with it, I'm not great at the parries yet though

Gonna be pretty busy until Monday alas. I'm definitely going to play it next week. I even have a free month of Game Pass to use up, so that's sweet.

Had a quick blast and it seems fun. Probably not the best choice of game to put on with the volume low to avoid disturbing a poorly missus though.
