Quite a few more sprint stages yet, so I am sure he will try again.
Either that or he's going to hop off his bike on the next mountain stage and bid us all adieu. 😂

What's the last stage in nice like? Flat with a promenade des anglais finish, or some nearby mountain action?
I assume it's a wee bit of both?
Or maybe a run along the coast? I'll have to have a look-see.

Oh ffs it's a TT? Fuck that. They're the shittest things to watch at the best of times, not for the end of a Tour. 😕

Not if Roglic has his helmet on right this time.
Yeah, I’ve watched that finish a handful of times now, glorious. Threaded through like a knife through butter, surfed VdP and Phillipsen’s wheels for a sec and then popped out the other side, unbeatable. Great to see all the others congratulating him too.

Just watched the highlights and it’s a mega sprint. Phillipsen could barely hold his wheel himself when he latched on to Cav in the closing moments.

It’s mad when you consider all the great sprinters through multiple eras over the last 15 odd years, and Cavendish has been there throughout. McEwan, Greipel, Kittel, Petacchi, Zabel, Friere… His longevity is just incredible

Looked like they were cycling through treacle.
Looking like MV is Bini’s to lose

Gravel in the Tour is nonsense. So is the pavé they brought in. Next they’ll have a full sus DH stage

It's a bit unnecessary and it can really screw over one of the GC riders.
It's been one hell of a stage though. Never a dull moment.

I forgot to post how happy I was that pidcock was pipped to the line yesterday and that he was very unhappy about it. He came across as such a self-obsessed bellend on the Tour unchained documentary on Netflix, so it really tickled me. I know they all need to be driven, but he seemed really over the top with it as opposed to some of the much more relaxed types seen on there, so fuck him. I think he's probably going to be my replacement for Chris Froome to rage against. Pidcock's still young, so I'm going to get to love to hate him for a good few years.

He’s a funny one because I don’t think he gives much of a fuck about road racing beyond the money. Then he turns up to MTB races when it suits him, with funding, coaching, training etc that most MTB riders can only dream about, score a load of qualifying points and take the place of another full time off road rider for things like the Olympics. So the MTB scene largely thinks he’s a cunt as well. Talented rider though

I am cooling on him, pretty rapidly, despite having enjoyed watching a Brit take it to VdP and Van Aert in cyclocross in past years. I totally get that an ego is needed, sometimes, but the riders I root for manage to spin it away a bit with a bit of flair and humour- Alaphilippe a perfect example.

I quite like Pidcock but I've only seen him in races and during the odd interview before it after the race.
I didn't realise there was a new season of Unchained but I think it dropped just as we left for vacation, so I haven't been near a screen, except for live Tour de France viewing and Euro matches, this month.
Something to look forward to when we get home. :-)

Yeah, I like watching Pidcock race too. And I rarely see any interviews so I haven't picked up on much. I guess Evenopoel might have a similar but different issue, he's magnificent but seems like he could be a bit of an arse. Both are young though, I guess.
