I've dreamt of a decent Robocop game since I was a kid and this doesn't look that awful. Crazy that they haven't got the proper sound for the gun though. And if they haven't got the original song it's pretty much a bust.

Considering it’s a ‘gameplay overview’ it’s kind of hard to tell what it is. Some bits look like a point and click adventure. I don’t really get it.

I'm guessing shooter with some tacked on detective mode stuff stolen from the Batman games. They're really missing a trick not having the gun sound though. They need more vvvvvt vvvvvt vvvvvt when you're moving around too.

Must be really hard, tbf. On one hand it feels like a robocop game should be a slam dunk but on the other you’re controlling a lumbering tank so you’d probably have to really lean into the detective stuff.

It kind of reminded me of the way you’d wander about a Deus Ex game. I’m guessing its not a final build but it looks kinda dated from this trailer.
Not having the Robocop theme music is a shame.

As a reminder, in Robocop one of the characters is snorting cocaine from the tits of a hooker, Red Forman walks in and shoots that guy in the knee caps, then says "Bitches leave".
This has a mindfullness joke.

It was very AA territory it had some charm as you can tell they love the franchise but it's lacking that extra bit to push it into buy full price territory. For reference they made the Rambo game before Terminator Resistance. |

It maybe Peter Weller doing the voice but it sounds iffy and it really needs to add the RoboCop reverb to it, I'd say Weller was phoning it in but that may actually sound better if he really was.
Terminator Resistance was rather fun but I never got around to finishing it and it not having the save games crossover to the PS5 version made me not want to restart it.
This will probably be fun as well but definitely don't expect some mega-budget experience from it.

RoboCop 3 on the Amiga was damn good, the frame rate wasn't the best at times though and that's saying something.

My whelm is somewhat under rather than over.
There are cracking RoboCop and, more dearcto me,Judge Dredd, games waiting to be made. This doesn't look like one of those.
Movement looks too smooth/quick, typical of a strafey shooter. Chucking that dude looked a bit too fast and gimmicky too.
I'd prefer a little slower clunk-clunk-clunk like a human sized mechwarrior. Quite like the idea of some Batman-esque investigating though.
However, that might turn out shit too, but I'll keep a distant eye on this.

I don't get the movement, is it an FPS, or more on-rails like a light-gun game? The aiming just seems to tab between enemies as well.
It's criminal that there hasn't been a good Robocop (or Dredd) game. Except maybe Robocop3D which was just too early for what it was trying to do.
On the other hand, the video shows why it's hard to make a good Robocop game. He just walks slowly and stands there while people shoot him, immune to damage, and then takes out all the enemies with autotargeting. Hard to make into a satisfying or challenging game experience.
I've been meaning to try out their Terminator game for ages, but the reviews were so-so and it never really drops into 'buy it just incase it's good' price range.
Future Shock and Skynet were two of my all-time favorite games though, so I've always wanted to have another decent Terminator game.

Yeah,I thought the voice sounded off, but it really is Weller. Unfortunately old age will do that. See also: Patrick Stewart in Picard. Or Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.
I like that they wanted to use Weller, but they might have been better off getting an impersonation
I'm not sure about the trailer. It looks okay, but also shit. Like when Robocop throws the perp, it's looks very weightless.
That sort of weightlessness makes it look, mechanically, like a PS2 game. And the graphics laid over that are... Okay. Also a bit dated looking.
Idk, I'll see what the reviews are.
The detective side of thing could be more interesting than the FPS tank aspect.

Thankfully this appears to be a PS exclusive so I don't have to deal with the disappointment.
And yep Vs Terminator was a brilliant game. Remake that with a facelift and include the legacy version with it. I'd buy that for a dollar etc etc

I was kinda thinking the same. Make it about managing heat/armor/power levels, and then make the shooting about targeting unarmored body parts accurately, like head, hand, etc.. Have him able to have parts damaged and need to reroute power to repair his arm of something like that. Technically, while robocop is a super violent movie, he's supposed to use non-lethal force where possible and arrest perps rather than kill them (clearly not based on real US police rules). It feels like they should lean into this, like Dread VS Death did, but better, and have him disarming and arresting perps, shooting hostage holders in the nuts to rescue their hostage, etc... |
