I really enjoyed the first one as a not overly challenging Dark Souls Lite.

I'm in. I thought Lords of the Fallen didn't quite realise its promise...and had some hateful tedious bosses. But I loved The Surge and The Surge 2 (despite also having some hateful bosses). All of this is irrelevant of course as it's a different developer....still, looks promising. I'm not even put off by the godawful song in the trailer.

I really did not like the first game. The whole look and feeling of the game was severely off. This looks better already and much less generic fantasy.

They do have a bit more experience in the genre now though. I'm not expecting a souls beater but it should at least be a decent 7/10 game that you can enjoy your way through.

Do they really have more experience though? This is by a newly founded development team not Deck13, so I'm not sure about that; I do like what I'm seeing and reading about it though, so I remain optimistic. Roll on October 2023...

Hmmm. Maybe. Certainly won't buy at full price. It's looking a bit Souls by numbers but modernised, and no-one does Souls like FROM. Plus, Elden Ring DLC will be here soon enough.
