I looked for a thread and couldn't find it. Coming October 12, I really like the look of this from last night's trailer. The return to the classic gameplay, and not levelling up so your eagle can unlock a toxic shit to spray on your enemies to lower their armour class for 14 seconds is a massive plus in my book. Though I must say, even though I know it's a relatively small project, the reuse of the exact same parkour animations was a bit jarring. For me, the game with the best movement had been Unity. DISCUSS Gameplay reveal

Didn't see a single thing in the trailer that looked new for the franchise. I wasn't really interested in this to begin with, and it still managed to underwhelm me.

I suppose it depends how much you liked the original games.
I agree completely that it's more of the same, but it's more of the same that we haven't had in quite a few years.

And it's got a £45 price tag, so it's far easier to take a punt on.

I'm beginning to get a bit hyped for this. I've played through all of them up to Odyssey, so obviously a bit of a fan of the series. That game was far too bloated though, and what little I played of Valhalla was enough to make me abandon it while still in the starting area. The talk of it being a 100+ hour game with level gating just put me off completely. If they can go back to the roots with a smaller experience then I'm fully on board. 30 hours is the perfect length for an AC game for me.
Plus I could listen to Shohreh Aghdashloo all day. Such a unique voice.

Just copy Hitman in an Assasins Creed world. It's amazing for a game about Assasins, that you don't do much stealthy killing. Even in the early games it turned into a Benny Hill style chase because the stealth was shite.

I clocked out at Black Flag and haven't been back since - don't feel like I've missed much.
This one looked a lot more like the older titles but as said above, nothing new.

Wasn't Mirage meant to be part of Infinite or whatever nonsense name that platform had? Curious to see how physical releases of games work with that, if it's even still a thing...
I'll be looking for a cheap Xbox digi deal personally.

Loved them all until they morphed into bloated janky RPG's. Similar to playing a new GTA, I'd look forward to that feeling of being lost in such a carefully created world, then exploring it feeling like a bad ass. With what at the time was originally pretty ground breaking animation and interesting story, I'd look forward to each release.
Last one I enjoyed though was Syndicate, but for me the series peaked at Unity, which still looks better than anything they've released in the series in the 10 years since. Though it barely running on current systems at the time half explains why it still looks so good.
As already mentioned, there looks to be absolutely zero innovation or progression of anything as far back as the original game.
These used to be my absolute favourite games back in the day, but they just feel like they're thrown out from a production line these days. Believe this started life as DLC that they felt could be flogged as a full priced game and it looks exactly as I expected it to.

Origins was a genuine shakeup to the formula in a setting that most people were clamouring for. Odyssey was more of the same, just more refined and expanded out to a ridiculous degree of the same content that wasn't really warranted. And Valhalla was...fine, reduced in size but still overtly long, repetitive and spent far far too much time doing missions where the majority of your time was spent receving the quest then travelling to a point on the map and then doing whatever it is you needed to do which ended in a few minutes. Similarly, game balance got out the window. Once you got the ability to shoot two arrows at the same time, I was defeating end game bosses in 3 shots usually.
I think I'll always have some interest in what they do and where they go and with Mirage I'm appealed at knowing the game is scaled back in scope and size. The Wrath of the Druids DLC for Valhalla was prob the best part about that game, the size of the map and the campaign just right. I wouldn't mind if they went back to making it less of an RPG now but I doubt they will, with the fact that they have all the cosmetics and equipment to sell in the store. I do recognise that it needs another shake up and the overarching story at this point is pointless, perhaps they have just burnt out on that formula. But it's their biggest IP that still sells well, Valhalla I think is the biggest seller so they're not stopping.

I like the simplified focus of this, less so what looks like (from the footage) a lesser budget spent on it relative to other AC games.

It all sounds like a more simplified game, everything they shown here for example is pretty much everything we've already seen. Guess it all depends then on the story/setting

The retro filter option is a nice touch. Doubt I'll use it but still kinda neat.

I loved AC2, mostly because of the renaissance setting and climbing/exploring all these famous historic buildings. I didn't get on with Black Flag and I liked Unity for the story (and again the historic setting). Odyssey though, that was absolutely fantastic! I loved the action RPG-lite style. Yes, it might be a bit too large for its own good, but I just loved being in that world. Still want to have a go at Origins (but other games keep getting in the way).
If this is going back to "it's roots", then I'll pass. I never cared that much about the "assassin" side of things.

I know this is a budget title but I would have thought by this stage they'd have more fluid animations for the movement.
Though I suppose parkour hasn't been a focus since Unity

It's basically AC1 as a remake. Nothing new or novel here. I'm in the minority and actually enjoyed the recent outings compared to the originals.

The games release date has been moved forward a week, to October 5th.
Won't be playing it until Christmas but will be curious about the reviews. 6's or 7's I'm predicting.
That haptic feedback vest being released with the game also seems nuts.

I recently finished this and thought it was quite good. The cast is a bit weaker than normal but the length and the gameplay were just what I was in the mood for at the time.
Much closer to an older AC game than the last 3.
