I've not used the fast travel or switched between characters outside of when prompted to do so (I'm still fairly early on), but the speed at which you can travel is incredible. It always felt pretty good in the previous game, but here it is genuinely feels next gen; using the hardware in a way that has a tangible difference to the way the game feels. Really early on you have Sandman flinging you across the city and it felt like a proper wow moment.
Liking it a lot overall. It is a little bit more of the same and perhaps finishing Miles only a few days before release wasn't the best move, but there are a few differences that improve the feel. Combat feels a little more involved, continuing the trend that Miles started. I know some further up complained about fumbling a bit with it, but I personally like that it does offer some more options. I don't think it demands that of you, but if you put a little more effort in it can give you some really cool feeling moments.
I've only just had my first real stealth moment and been introduced to the web line thing. This does make the section feel a bit easy, but I guess they will add some more quirks to counter you using it. Otherwise, I can see the stealth bits being a bit trivial.
Liking the story so far and looking forward to seeing more of that, as well delving into some of the side stories.

Yeah the speed you can traverse has been an eye opener for me. I'm thinking of Gotham Knights and the speed lines they used to give the illusion of speed when in reality you could probably run faster. This is light years away from that warmed up shit.

It's worth trying the fast travel a few times just to see how cool it looks. Especially like it when you zoom into central park. Vandelay they do add some stuff to spice things up , but even then you can just make network of web lines at the top of the room to get above them and you're untouchable again.

Yeah this is one of the rare open world games where traversal never becomes a chore so I haven't even tried fast travel yet to be honest.
The seamlessness of the world is true next gen stuff though. A few missions make very good use of it. I also gushed the first time I saw a speck on the pavement in the far distance and swung over to watch that speck become an NPC that never noticeably loaded in, changed behaviour or suddenly developed detailed textures when I got within 10 feet of them.

Absolutely loving this so far, no real surprise when I found the last two so enjoyable.
Finding the combat a little bit more chaotic than I remember, not helped by the fact its taken me ages to get used to the controls.

I only used it in my last hour of cleaning up the remaining collectibles and events, but it's remarkably good. It should be the standard for every game going forward.

I'm only a couple of hours in, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but I'm definitely feeling diminishing returns by revisiting the same city again.

Few hours in, loving it so far. Combat is as lovely as ever (albeit more convoluted than before) and really enjoying the traversal around the city. Glad they've made the map bigger as otherwise it would get a little stale revisiting the same areas as previous games.

I tell you what the sheer increase in vehicles and NPC's make a big difference for me despite it being the same location. It also just feels more dense building wise than the previous two games.

City is definitely more alive than the last one. NPC's everywhere. Car density also does New York justice this this time. I also love the interior work they've done when you look through random windows. The NPC's in there are only doing bog standard shit like sitting and watching TV or cooking over an oven or whatever, but it adds to the atmosphere when you're scaling buildings and stuff.

Just finished it, but annoyingly I have no idea how long it took. Seems I had an over-eager adguard blocklist in place that was stopping all PSN telemetry from being collected. Definitely felt a lot longer than the 17 hours someone else mentioned for their playthrough mind you.
Cracking stuff anyways. Not quite up there with RE4R, but a very close second place GotY.

Forgot to mention it in my post but a Kotaku article reminded me - the Howard mission is one of the most remarkable pieces of storytelling I’ve seen in a game for quite some time. Genuinely brilliant.

Every time I load this up I have a shit eating grin on my face, this has expanded on the other games brilliantly. Combat is a joy, I've just done my first hunter base and had a blast working my way through and taking everyone out without being seen once.

Yeah, the bases were excellent fun. Especially loved the one at the bottom of the east island. (name is a bit spoilery so I won't say it)
It's well worth making sure you have the double perch/web line takedown skill before tackling them. (bottom-left in the duo skills page IIRC)

Please tell me you don't need all golds in the Mysteriums for a trophy.

Nope, thank fuck! Think I only got gold on 3 or 4 of them. I would've definitely given up on the plat if you had to gold the no damage ones. The Miles suit you get as a reward was my main for the rest of the game. The red style on the right looks cool as fuck. Annoyingly it keeps switching suits towards the end of the game. Miles' final one with his hair sticking out looks fucking awful! Stop switching me back to it!!! The only annoying trophies for me were the spider bots one and the finish off 100 enemies with abilities ones. The latter meant I had to keep switching back to specific abilities to progress them, instead of using the cool new ones that you unlock. Oh, and the hidden one for using specific abilities while in surge mode which I hadn't progressed much due to the above abilities being selected instead, but that was easy to spam at the end.

I think one (no damage) took me 3 attempts due to a camera issue in grappling to Mysterio, and everything else I got on the first try. I thought they were pretty generous this time around.

I think mentioned this before but I had an African American friend have a quiet word with me about a picture I put on IG of my youngest in his Black Panther outfit doing the salute when he died. She said she considered it blackface. We kind of fell out over it tbh.

She said she considered it blackface. We kind of fell out over it tbh. I can understand it from an African American point of view exclusively as we know how suffocating the conversation of race is in America and how everything is viewed through the lens of race and how that pervades EVERYTHING no matter how innocent. While I understand their disapproval I definitely don't agree with it, I mean I heard about digital blackface the other day about people using GIFs which contain black people is blackface and I just let out a big sigh.

To be fair, on that last point, when it was pointed out to me that a disproportionate amount of reaction gifs/memes are ‘black people doing a face’ you can’t unnotice it.
For whatever reason, it is a thing.

Played for about 4 hrs already where I'm purely just having fun swinging around. The game does such a good job of eliciting that feeling of committing to travelling at such a speed you feel only just about in control, so I get a lot of those sharp intakes of breath as my jump at the apex of a swing only just clears a building. Or I've deployed the wing suit and only just clearing over a busy motorway. This is all without the movement upgrades and abilities too. Another tech marvel as the FOV is quite wide, travelling so fast and I don't think I've noticed any pop in.

No only got the game 2 days ago to be fair! 5% complete. I'll give it a try later just to see.

Ha. TBF, they're actually a bit better than before. She's turned into John Wick for some reason.

They’re pretty much the same. Very linear with pretty much just one way of getting through. I’m not sure anyone enjoys this. It’s bearable at best.
