Throw another shrimp on the Barbie. Or the Oppenheimer, if you prefer.

Sam Kerr is out of Australia's first two games with a calf injury. Huge blow for them and the tournament.

Sam Kerr is out of Australia's first two games with a calf injury. Huge blow for them and the tournament. Oh, that's not good. Good for Ireland though, maybe brings them back to touching distance later this morning. 80,000 people in the stadium is going to be a new experience for the Irish team.

New Zealand getting a first win in a World Cup of either sex is a big early boost for the competition. And not constantly referring to them as the All Whites like the men are makes for a much more comfortable viewing experience.
The time differences are bastards though. Hopefully it won’t hurt the viewing figures too much.

Australia get the win. Good for the tournament probably but a decent performance by Ireland keeping the pressure on for a lot of the 2nd half and nearly snatched a draw in added time.

Japan getting to retake this penalty is such bullshit
4-0 down in the 99th minute the Zambian sub keeper saves it with her first touch in international football and the ref takes the moment away from them

This England match has been all about VAR so far, right decision to retake the saved penalty though.

Not a fan of the stadium announcements. One of those good ideas on paper but not great on reality.
Mic up the ref for TV like rugby but the big PA call comes across messy imo

Edit: still needs fixing though

England - Haiti certainly wasn't a good game.

England - Haiti certainly wasn't a good game. Only from an English perspective. I think it was one of the best games until now. Very pleasently surprised by Haiti. England was clearly the better team and controlled the game but Haiti fought very well and nearly scored the equaliser.

Germany bossing it currently. Morocco currently tackling then struggling with what to do with it.
The standard between teams now is a massive gulf, in some places. You've got the Germans playing through balls, flick ons, little triangles and working a clear system of flexible 343 while others just trying to keep up.

What a goal for Ireland, they're looking good here. Ah well, another decent performance but another loss. No chance of qualifying and a tough enough match to come against Nigeria. Another goal and maybe a win would still feel like a good return from the first WC.

It's gutting but Ireland don't have to improve too much to be a top side at the next Euro's

I heard them on telly say a 10 o clock kick off so I missed the goal but the play looks decent. Injury is nasty though. That's her out of the WC I assume.
