I thought a seperate thread is more suitable then discussing inside the retro gaming thread.
Are any of you collecting right now if so for what consoles?
I myself am currently collecting mainly for DS and 3DS. I have sold off half of my PSP collection that I finished or people would pay absurd money for (Trails in the Sky, Ys games).
If you have a xbox one series x, I would definitely recommend either buying retrogames on digital discount or hunting down cheap copies. Its really great seeing how much improved those games are with better anti aliasing and framerates. I bought Epic Mickey 2 for the xbox 360 recently and look forward to playing it with one of my brothers.

I've got a still shrink-wrapped copy of the Gears Of War 3 Collector's Edition. They don't seem to be going for more than twenty quid on eBay at the moment. I'll probably end up taking it to the classic games stall in the local market at some point.

I've got the collector edition of Catherine somewhere - the one with the pants. I'm not collecting it really, just can't remember where it is. I don't think I even took it out of the box it was delivered in

I still collect pretty actively, I limit myself to games I'm interested in and want to play though and generally change what formats I collect for depending on the market.
PS3 and Wii games were about the cheapest they could be so that's where I was focusing during the PS4 generation, though I've kind of reached an endpoint where what's left to track down tends to be really expensive and mainly imports. So I'll be looking elsewhere in future.
I exited on some formats like TurboCD and Saturn, the investment required to keep building a collection just wasn't worth it when I had about 20 games for each, they raised money that I rolled into my PS1 collection, that's more or less complete in terms of what I'm interested in besides Japanese imports. I'm always missing a few things that annoy me though, my copy of Clock Tower is disc only for instance but £300-400 to get a complete NTSC copy and claw a bit back by selling off the disc only leaves me inclined to just leave things as they are.

I am pretty much done with PS2 and PS1 collecting. I still want Beyond the Beyond on PS1 but thats it.
I went for Japanese versions for games I felt were not worth their value such Samurai Western, God Hand, Blood will Tell and Sky Gunner. All these games are perfectly playable in japanese and my brother is fluent.
I have just purchased a New condition double IPS 3DS. At long last a 3DS without ghosting on the bottom screen and great colour calibration. I have two other with a top and bottom IPS.
In case anyone cares about 3DS IPS screens like this post. There is a lot of misinformation online and none of the awnsers came close to the trueth of seeing it in person.

Bought my brother a mint PAL copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Saturn on eBay about 14 years ago for the paltry sum of £85.
It's worth eye wateringly stupid amounts now, wishing I'd kept it for myself!
In fact, I gifted my entire Saturn collection to him when I left home. Whole bunch of quite valuable stuff in there now, PAL copies of Burning Rangers, Shining Force III, Shining the Holy Ark, etc.
I'm an idiot.

Man thats really rough, that would be a small fortune today. My brother could have bought a sealed Earthbound copy 14 years ago for 100 euro, instead he bought just the card for 50..... that one copy would be 3000-4000 euro now. My mom also threw out all my GBA cases so that right there cost me thousands of euro since I have a lot of rare games.
