Saw a tweet about Shenmue and got me thinking about how good the intro is. (Also don't know how many times I had seen it before I realised Ryo and the men in black disappear during bits of the fight)
Another favourite is Lost Odyssey

That Lost Odyssey intro is pretty cool

Gran Turismo 2. The song on the intro video of the Arcade Disc is My Favorite Game by The Cardigans.

I adore the opening to Metal Gear Solid, really sets the scene and the tone for the rest of the game.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 if you count the opening montages are also great and the first game's opening gameplay sequence if that counts

MGSV - intro is about fifteen hours too long, sure, and twelve of those are spent staring at yer little man's bum as he crawls around, but... is that a whale? in the sky? on fire? has stayed with me (my first and only metal gear)

Half Life. That monorail ride is seared into my brain.

It would have to be the original Bioshock's.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned 'Sweet Child o' Mine' yet!
MGSV and BioShock are both great calls - the former is way too long, as Matt says, but it's definitely memorable.
Uncharted 2 deserves a mention in my view.

The music maybe hasn't aged that well, but I always loved all the Thief cutscenes.
The intro isn't as good as the Garret related one though.
Intro:
Jedi knight, even with the slightly cheesy acting. Shame this clip doesn't include the flythrough of Naar Shadar that starts the game proper.
Plus Bioshock.

Another contender for me would be the intro of the original Prey game. It was very atmospheric and good use of music.

Open your heart, it's gonna be alright!
Thanks Sonic.
At the time I was well impressed with the castle flyby in the original Unreal with the mood lighting and everything. Emerging from the crashed ship out to what seemed like an expansive exterior was pretty cool.
I also have a soft spot for Soul Calibur too, being awed by the smoothness of the character animations. IIRC, characters were added to the intro as they got unlocked in-game.

I also always loved the pixelated intro to Tie Fighter. It managed to be very star wars and very epic, despite or maybe because of the low resolution.

For some more modern ones, basically anything by Arkane. Dishonored 1/2, Prey, Deathloop.
Kinda like Half Life they summon the feeling of stepping into a real place very well.

Like fuck me is this naff, I hope there's an actual game the other side of all this.

I-War (1997) - pretty much a 14 minute episode of The Expanse but a lot earlier.

Most of my favorite intros are from 90's PC games.
X-Com, Magic Carpet, System Shock... just to name a few.

I've always had a soft spot for the Super Smash Bros. Melee intro I had to go and find a longplay video. Not hearing the "ping!" of the start button at tge end of the intro was driving me mad

God of War is right up there for me. The fight with Baldur blew my mind with cinematic violence.
